Yes, yet another thread from me - but its a question thats been bugging me for a while now....

Is it possible to add TEMS to a non-TEMS car? IE - can you just add the TEMS thingies, the switch and the controller, or does it all need wiring in?

Kinda Curious is all ;)

Aaah - so it is possible. Well thats good. As for the benefit of it....i dunno - never experienced a Supra before mine. Although - if you have the TEMS shocks and motors - would i have to ditch the strut brace?
That depends. The acuators are not too big, but some strut bars you will have to lose, some you won't. I feel as if putting a stock tems system in is not worth it unless you go with some upgrades.

I have a mostly stock tems system with a HKS TEMS controller and that, my friend, is SWEET!

You can put it on FULL hard and it reallly reallly helps out.

I have a stock tems controller if you need one!

Hahaha, figures dan would chime in here. SO if you need any parts for your tems, me and supra dan are here!

And if you need any help wiring it up, i know my way around with the tems system!

TEMS can come with any setup. Toyota didn't make two different wiring harnesses. If you want to do it, go ahead.

Don't go with used in my opinion. The actuators may not work anymore.

Or did they? I'm pretty sure there are cars without the necessary wiring for TEMS. Toyota did it for other options, why should TEMS be any different ;).

I searched for that item and could never find a place to buy one. So I just did the diag mode mod with a switch on the dash for it. Now anytime I want full hard on my TEMS I just flip the switch and set for "sport"...total cost - $1.99

I know there is more than one wiring harness. But there isn't more than one for a model. I had weight list at one time published on I-Supra. Not the gut it list, the whole car. It had like 7 models, or more. There should be one harness for each. GE manual, GE auto, GE sport roof, etc.

TEMS is a comfort thing, not a performance thing. I personally love having mine. when the road is bad or Im just cruising the freeway I can drop em down to soft, for around town I click up to firm...when I hit my favorite twisty, I click em to hard. Its really just a gadget, but I like having the choice.
