Whenever I hear someone say they need a cigarette, or a drink, or a toke. I, for some reason, think of Linus from peanuts, with his little blanket and thumb in his mouth.

smoking is my biggest vice too :icon_mad:

but I also have a very sick and sad addiction to Supras. There's no patch for this horrific, money sucking disease

Why don't you man-up and quit? If you had a pair and saw what you NEED to do [obviously a NEED, since you can't afford this already expensive addiction, which by the way is NOT a need] you would also see that this is a blessing in disguise. Quit, be healthier, enjoy the air, and use that extra smoke money for car parts. Now that's a REAL, POSITIVE addiction and need.

I posted this elsewhere back on October 30th of this year:

I think I started smoking when I was around 12 years old. At my peak I was a 2 1/2 pack a day smoker. I've never really cared what people think about it.

Health concerns? Yea, some, maybe.

However my fathers' father died in his 30's while jogging. The man didn't smoke. My mothers' father died at over 100. He smoked like a chimney. In the end, what you are made of might mean just as much as what you do to yourself. My maternal grandfather was one tough son of a bitch.

With all that said, lately I've been down to under a pack a day. The reasons for the reduction are pretty simple. It's a pain in the ass, I stopped smoking in my homes years ago, I really don't enjoy it as much as I used to, and DreamerTheresa doesn't smoke, so I try not to subject her to it.

Saturday night I stood on the front porch and I decided that I had smoked my last cigarette.

I've got way to much to live for and I've got better things to do with my time and money. So I smoked one last cigarette and said that's it, I'm done, threw the pack in the trash and didn't look back.

So far, so good. I'm feeling it, but it's not unbearable. They say the first 72 hours is the worst. I'm about 41 hours into the 72 and I'm doing well.

Wish me luck.

I haven't had a cigarette since and I don't miss it a bit.

If you can get your head to the point where you can say that you really want to quit, just do it. Don't smoke. It's only 3 days that are rough, after that it's easy. If I can quit after smoking for 26 years, you can too.

PM me if you want some tips on how to pull it off.

P.S. - A little positive reinforcement never hurt anyone either ...

Quit. What do you get out of cigarettes anyways?

You feel good? If ya didn't smoke in the first place, you wouldn;t have to smoke to feel good.

eh, i went to wendys and got 7 cigs, but there gone now :(

i'v been smoking around a pack a day for about 2 years,

It would be hard to quit, literally all my friends smoke, My other friends and I actually got 3 of my friends addicted to smoking, and I told them, your not addicted yet, I'd quit its bad expensive habit,

its actually only 3.98 every 2 days. Buy One Get One free, Camel menthol yess.

so me to stop smoking, would be very hard because all my friends smoke, literally.

i guess it would be 3.98 every 2 days towards the sup, since its draining a crater sized hole in my pocket.

That my friend is $726.35 a year provided the cost stays the same. I quit 4 yrs ago tom. and it has been great since however it was a little hard at first due to all my friends smoking too. Now quite a few have also quit.

Hows the resto on the car coming? I never see you on ym anymore.

SC....You da man! Back on topic, after watching my grandfather die of lung and throat cancer, i vowed not to smoke. Also, saving money not smoking is a plus.

I'm sorry to have added such a negative post, but sometimes people need a different approach to help them. Maybe good-cop/bad-cop will help some. My reason for acting like an a-hole in regards to smokers who "can't" quit is this:
Someone close to me is the "I want to quit, but can't" type. He's obese and has labored breathing as-is, and hacks his lungs out every morning and evening, but I can't do anything about it to help him. I've tried encouraging him to exercise and go walking with me, but he says that he can't because of his knees, and he'll never be able to lose his weight - he's just too stubborn. He's younger than me and has a kid, and I feel like my grandmother will outlive him. You can lead a horse to water..

Just spend a week or two as a non-smoker.

You will then realize how bad smokers (i.e. - YOU) smell.

You'll be amazed. Try it.

It's not the first 5 24, or 72 hours. It's just getting out the habit of the "fuck I'm stressed, I'll have a cigarrette..." "ah, work is over, I think I'll have a smoke" or the "I just had a nice dinner, how about a cigarette", and even the "I think I'm working up a nice dump, I ought to have a cigarette..."

After 2 weeks, you're in the clear. Just don't start up again. If you do, it'll taste like ass (which is a good sign to stop right there).

I didn't really have any struggle with the psychology of it. The physical part was the only thing that was unpleasant.

I can say that I was 100% ready to quit, and I think that had a lot to do with it.
