without taking the eng out i presume

disco the battery

put the front on jack stands

get everything disco'd from the shifter and interior so the tranny can drop

disco the driveshaft, drain your tranny fluid, support the rear of the tranny and take out the 4 bolts that hold the rear mounting bracket

disco the clutch slave cylinder, probably a good idea to drain that fluid also and replace

disco starter and all that stuff, might help to take off the intake manifold for that

take off the access plates for the clutch, slowly loosen the clutch bolts a couple of turns at a time, helps with a friend to turn the motor until its all the way out

lower the tranny and get about 4ft of extensions so you can reach all the tranny bolts and loosen them

i did this all by myself, but i recommend a friend to help, makes it easier

just a quick rundown, i may have forgotten some stuff, but that should be the major ones

easy way is bribe a freind with a case of beer :D:D lol.

i leave the driveshaft in the tranny, and using a floor jack slide it back the bit i need to access the clutch, save draining the fluid.

I heard that the hardest tranny bolts to get to are the 2 on top ?

As far as the starter as long as i get the bolts from the bell housing disconnected is it fine to stay where its at?

Lol if i had a friend that was able to do this. or wasn't lazy enough to even help.

So just use a floor jack and some jack stands to move the tranny around?

i have four car ramps so i can get the car off the ground.

dont really know if the starter can stay on or not, i took mine out cause i was doing an auto to 5sp swap

i drained the tranny cause i wanted to replace the fluid anyway

and to get all the bolts for the tranny, i had the swivel type extensions that allowed the sockets to move a little

its a 2 piece driveshaft, so has a center support bearing that has to be removed to, once you unblot it from the diff. but i leave the yoke in the tail housing. and dont forget to undue the spedo cable! that will slow you down alot!

I made a tranny jack out of a regular jack and a piec of ply wood and some straps. The part the you put on the part to jack up comes off on my jack. Drilled a hole then stuffed the wood in the middle.

I just pulled the trans back far enough to get the clutch and flywheel in and out.

ok yeah so you just disconnect it from the middle of the drive shaft or the rear and the middle?
