Acrylic Spark Plug Valley Cover???

On a 1JZ would a spark plug valley cover made from acylic melt from the engine bay heat or would it be fine? I'm thinking of showing off my 1zz coils with the BIC mouting kit.

What are the clear 2jz ones made out of?

there might be a chance that it melts, unless theres some special heat resistant ones like the clear plastic timing covers that i saw on a few supras here

I don't think 200* will melt it.

i believe acrylic melting point is around 250-270*F from wat i read online if the engine doesnt heat up more than 250 it should be good, id give it a try first tho

which is polycarbonate, not to be confused with plexiglas which is acrylic.

it will yellow up. it won't deform unless it is very thin.

Yeah, it's why I posted they used lexan, not the same material.

Well my question has been answered, looks like I'll just raise the cover for the time being. I'll make a new cover from aluminum eventually. Thanks folks.

Don't use acrylic, polycarb or lexan are better choices. They shouldn't yellow up on you unless some contaminent is heated into them.

Also make sure they are nice and thick.
