basically, the NA intake is at a loss for low end torque, so they separated it. at the higher rpms when it's able to make its power, then itll open up? that said, toyota designed the acis not for making extra power, but saving the original power.

did i get all that right?

They put ACIS on there so they didnt have to compromise as much with intake design. Instead of designing it for low end OR high end power, they get the best of both by changing its properties when needed.

No you can't modify the AICS.This post will give you a greater understanding on why you can't modify it:http://www.supramania.com/forums/showpost.php?p=299941&postcount=16
Defiant 7m did toss around the idea of using the 2jz-ge y-pipe,tb, and upper half of the intake manifold on the 7m. The 7mgte guys have mated the 2jz-gte ffim to fit on the 7m.Besides the work involved, in theory it should work and there should be gains to be had from it.

The noise comes from a 4 valve engine at high speed, and having the intake silencer removed in favor of a K&N, or whatever you put on.

When ACIS works correctly, the torque curve will be flat. When it does not work, it will spike up around 4000 rpm, which is why it changes over at that point.

man you guys are making this out like its freakin V-tech :icon_razz
Where do you think Honda got their idea from? :3d_frown:

They are the same pricipal. They are manipulating air flow without supercharging the manifold.
