I want to do modifcations on my cold air intake and I have a question.

"The only thing that should be removed is the accordian section, and it should be replaced by something such as an aluminum pipe. "

I got this out of the NA upgrade thread and I was wondering what exactly is the best route to fo for this. Is the accordian the ribbed looking part before the intake housing? I plan on putting apexi intake at the end.

Sorry for sound like a newb but i want to know the best route and i was kind of confused lol.

it is the part after the AFM to the throttle body... as long as it is solid and doesnt leak it doesnt really matter what you use as long as it has the right ports the stock system does (the GTE has 3 vac ports for example)

and again as long as it is still solid and doesnt leak... there really is no point in replacing it other than looks.

Pretty much ya, you could also get a box to go around your CAI so it doesn't suck in warm air.

A nice aluminum pipe to replace all of the rubber parts will work.

You can also add a cold air extension to the AFM and put the air filter under the headlight (if it doesn't rain much in your area).

i just pulled my filter off from under the head light. It was driven in all conditions (rain etc), with no plastic cover under the front. It was perfectly clean, but it was right up under the headlight.

so replacing the accordian section is pointless? so just stay with the apexi CAI and Im good to go for that area?

i replaced mine with a new stock from modesto toyota, 80 bucks, you figure the old one is 20 plus years old, may not be shiney, but it does the job :)

Wow Corwin That is A Nice Air Box/Cover, Do you have any other pictures prior to install? Materials list? I'd definently Consider building one into my GE as a heat shield for my FIPK.
