Hey guys, I have a 1990 supra turbo and the ac isn't working. The car is at the shop but there are some issues fixing it. First, we are pretty sure the climate control unit is toast. it tested bad, and I put it in my 87 turbo and it did not work. To clarify, there is no difference between 87-92 with the climate control correct? what about NA and turbo? If there is not a difference then my 87 good climate control should have worked in the 90, but it didn't! This leaves me to think that the 90 has a bad climate control, and another problem somewhere. Knowing this information will help, because my mechanic doesn't know for sure that the climate control are the same for these different years, but I remember reading it on here when searching, just need verification.
thanks,
John

yeah i know they look different, and that both have the same plugs, but is there anything different with the wiring or anything else? I know my amplifier is good, and compressor. The problem is the climate control isnt cutting on the compressor, but my 87 unit isnt working in there either which i know is good! This is why I am thinking there is another problem besides the climate control.

you're more than likely right then, the wiring is the same... lots of people get the 89+ CC because it looks better and it's a direct plug and play...

Turns out that there were more than one problem with the ac like a thought. The climate control was bad, so I replaced it with one from a 87 na. So yes all climate controls work together 87-92 na and turbo just like you said poodles:) The reason the good control was not turning on the ac was because the coolant sensor on the tstat had also gone bad. As soon as I unplugged it the ac turned right on. ac blowing very cold now, I think this is the first time both supras have ac working at same time lol.. Just wanted everyone to know what the problem was.
thanks,
John

that sensor is to turn off the A/C if you start to overheat, replace it as it might save you from overheating...

hell, it's a better indicator of if you're running hot than the factory gauge...
