That ps3 is not worth anywhere near what it sells for, Sony sucks for doing this unavailability crap on purpose every time a new console comes out. Plus Sony always tries to push stupid propietary format stuff like the MiniDisc, MemoryStick, ATRAC and Betamax. They all failed miserably.
Blu-ray is next. They always fail because Sony is so greedy.

I liked betamax....still got one somewhere...

Although - Blu-Ray isnt proprietary, i'm hoping it'll beat out HD-DVD in the long run, and the PS3 is the thing to tip the balance.

As for the price of the PS3 - isuppli did a breakdown of cost of the machine to build, and it costs $800+ to build, so they're selling it at a loss.

The nVidia RSX and Cell are the most expensive parts in it...

i dunno why the public is so hyped about all of this. if you want the most extreme, realistic graphics ever, here's an idea: open the door, take a walk outside. the leaves on the trees will look almost real!

i'm still rocking the nintendo64, baby. that and the xbox, i don't think ill get a 360 or ps3 for a looong time.

The memory sticks arent a complete failure I love my psp with all of its homebrew and the 5gig memory stick I like it better then the ipod just gotta wait later on for more space.

but 5 gigs is good for now.

Hype and publicity! If the things are going for $1000 on ebay, as soon as they come down to the normal overpriced retail people run out to buy it.


The products are a failure from a marketing standpoint, not because they are all bad ideas.
