hi all,

right ive got a weird problem with the abs still. it is reading a code 24 fault.

ie the light goes flash space flash long space then flashes 2 times then a space then 4 times. then it goes round again.

according to the tsrm code 24 doesnt exist. darket suggested it coud be a rear wheel sensor going open circuit. but that would be a code 23 iirc

now seeing as the tsrm doesnt cover it, and that it only surfaced after i fitted my new actuator which i got off a member on here i was wondering wether it could be a compatability issue between a newer actuator and an older abs brain.

heres the part numbers for my old abs brain and actuator

abs brain:89540-14010
079400-0253 *

actuator:88264-14110
137300-0021 *

* these numbers are not in bold type on the parts. (serial number perhaps?)

now then, the new actuator:?8264-40050(the first number had rubbed off)
137300-0060

edit:this is the part number for the abs brain compatible with the newer actuator.
First one as a bar code along the top and reads as follows :-

* 198073S *

The second sticker also has a bar code along the top and reads :-

89541 - 14020
079400 - 0372

Third sticker has :-

89540 - 14030 ( in bold characters )
100794 - 0272

do you guys think this could be the reason for the weird code? any advice?

cheers

Paul

yes uk is 3 channel abs aswell. and ive also used that site for printouts so ive read all the abs section and tested all the wiring with my multi meter. it all seems fine. apart from the buggered front speed sensor but thats the other fault code. for temporary ive plugged a working sensor in and clipped it to the engine and the front sensor code goes away leaving the code 24. which shouldnt even exist according to the site linked above.

oh only the jza70's had 4 channel abs didnt they?

i think it must be a compatability issue between the original computer in my 1987 car. and the abs actuator which came from a 1990 car.

ideas guys?

cheers

21, 22, 23 are listed as front speed sensors, left and right, and the rear. So 24 might be left or right for 4 wheel.
yes it wasa sugested that ot could be iirc left rear wheel, but i have 3 channel abs so its still a weird code. the abs actuator(the thing that buzzes when you pull off after start up) came from a uk spec turbo which also had 3 channel abs.

thanks for the ideas guys.

but mine is a standard na with as said before 3 channel abs.

thing is i need to sort this fault out so i can get a pass certificate to use my car on uk roads. if i cant find this fault the abs light will stay on and i wont get my certificate

If your computer labeled "skid control" is for 4 channel, it will kick the code until it recieves is sinewave from the non existent speed sensor.

ohhhhh hold on a thought. the abs actuator i fitted might have came out of a turbo car. did these have any differences on the abs?

the actuator is different to look at but still has the 3 sollenoids (i assume there the sollenoids. 3 cylinders standing upright?)

well the code 24 is gone and i have a correctly functioning abs system. now ive just got to fit the front speed sensor to the hub. lol that should be fun. for reference incase any other members have to change actuators and end up with a code like i had, heres the part numbers for the computer i got today.(incase anyone doesnt realise and mixes old actuators to a newer computer)
