Why do people think it would harm anything?

Brass is MUCH softer than steel. It's why you use a brass drift to pound bearings out, or use a brass hammer.

It's not going to do jack to anything in the tranny. I would have bought one if I had a way to get my hand on one when I had cash...

because as you shift it'll slowly wear away, and you'll get super tiny brass particles INSIDE your transmission, theres already enough metal crunching in there... you dont need to help that thrust washer go out any faster.

It's not going to do ANYTHING to anything in the trans.

It's BRASS, it's a whole lot softer than anything else in the trans, it's not going to do any damage to anything in the trans as it isn't hard enough.

It's like hitting a brick wall with a pillow, you're not going to do jack to it.

Even better, think of when your clutches in your LSD start to wear, it does NOTHING to the rest of the diff.

Oddly enough, I change my rear diff fluid every 12k miles for this very reason.

A pillow may not break the wall down, but it can slowly erode it away. I don't want ANY particles suspended in my fluids. I don't need to increase the abrasiveness of the fluids.

BTW, those synchros certainly aren't iron ;)

I'd rock the hell out of that thing... without thinking twice. But for what I'm using the car for, it'd be ok. ;)
