Abandoned Locations

I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to things like abandoned buildings/locations, i always wonder WHY they've become abandoned and why no-one has stepped in to DO anything with these locations (such as...use them as homeless shelters etc) - here's a list of the coolest ones i've seen:

The Farm
I've been wanting to go to the abandoned nuclear facility here in TN, they started it got 2 billion into the project and abandoned it. Its on google maps and only 1 1/2 hours from me.

The whole city near me is basically abandoned factories, I guess that's what happens when your population drops by 50% in 40 years.

I was really into exploring abandond stuff when I was a kid.

We spent a lot of time here back in the 1980's:

It was a tremendous place with miles of underground tunnels. It was dangerous as all fuck, floors collapsing, open elevator shafts that went 13 stories down... Entire areas of the building slanted at 30 degree angle. We found all kinds of crazy shit there. I had some wild damned times in that place.

Unfortunately it was completely demolished in the early 1990's.
