Ok, need some help here, and thought maybe one of you had a unique way to remove a rear axle.

Attempts:
Soaking in PB blaster
Tapping out with block of wood and 2lb hammer
Using bolt-on puller to 'press out' the axle
Smacking directly with 2lb hammer, with nut on loose to protect threads.
Bought large punch to use in center indentation, and smack out with 2lb hammer.
UPGRADED to 8lb sledge, and used punch.
Said "kiss my fat ass, axle", and whaled at the axle directly with said 8lb sledge, having decided the core value wasn't worth it.
:madfawk:
Results: Threaded section is now unuseable, and axle is sitting peacefully in the hub, giving me the finger.

Options:
1. I have a 12ton press, but there is no way to mount the axle/hub into it to attempt pressing the axle out.
2. Throw away the hub assembly entirely, and get a replacement hub.
3. Forget the car entirely, buy a Miata and open up a nail salon.

Any suggestions? Please?
(I really don't want to drive a Miata...)

Axle puller should get the job done, as would a nice, big air hammer.

That's my work tool, haven't met an axle that stayed put under its 'persuasion'

I have the above axle puller.
There is no way to connect it. The center point would go against the axle hub, but what do you bolt it to?
I expect that I'll have to take it somewhere, and pay a guy to airhammer it out...

Oh, and PS- I tried heating the axle with a torch, no luck.

You use the lug studs and lugnuts to hold the frame to the hub, lubricate the center threads (they will get very hot) and use a long ratchet to thread your way to victory(impact wrench helps greatly for that part)

I *thought* I had that attachment, but I was thinking of my slide hammer attatchment, which isn't 'domed', and wouldn't work.
Went to Autozone, they rented me one for $25, and had the damned thing out on the first try.
Just did the other side, came off like butter. Well, at least I'll get my core deposit on ONE of these two axles...

Now I just regret paying for an 8lb sledge hammer and $15 worth of steel drift punches...

Congrats, I know how hard things can stick together- I come from the land of Salt and rust, aka Minnesota. I've got all kinds of tricks up my sleeves ;)

Well done, good sir :bigthumb:

I just ordered remans from Autozone.
I tried getting them from advanced(would have saved me about $30), but when I tried to pay for the online order, it said they were not available,
and couldn't be ordered.
