If your auto is shifting and chirping tyres then theirs a pretty good chance it's been played with, With the increased line pressure you'll get more heat so if it has been modified make sure your cooler is up to scratch and don't just use the one that runs through the radiator.Heat = enemy of auto's
PWR make a good value tranny cooler at a reasonable price so no excuses.
FTR:My shift kitted auto will chirp the tyres in the first few gears, even at half throttle.. my 7mgte auto wont and it's pretty much new.

oh so your shift kitted auto is on what motor? Yeah im stll workng out the kinks with this car, going through it trying to replace whats needed... taking longer than I would like because I'm broke but im trying. so should my 7mgte chirp tires easier than it does? keep in mind its stock, and yours is on?? (just looking for reference about how my car is performing)

I'm not sure, but I think my trans might be shimmed as well. I've never driven/ridden in an auto mk3 other than my own so I'm not sure how the trans is supposed to shift. It's a decently smooth shift when I accelerate slowly, at about half throttle w/o O/D off it'll shift, accelerate another 2000 rpm or so then shift, and these shifts are really noticeable. Then under WOT whether O/D on or off and ECT on normal or power, the car seems to pull forward as it shifts (I'm not sure if that's the right way to describe it, but that's the way it seems to me). I can try to record it the next time I'm driving if it'll help

I've had three autos, all were high-mile cars (>130k). All shifted hard, all stock. Recently my current auto (90t) got a new transmission pump. Now, this car shifts noticeably smoother than the other two autos. I don't know what mileage toyota recommends replacing the tranny pump, but my car has 150k on it and I have reason to believe the tranny is original. My personal conclusion is that a hard shifting auto is a bad sign.

All my autos shift harder under ect power than they do ect normal.

Toyota 4SP RWD? Sounds like the 4 speed automatic to me.

Although you're probably talking about strictly a shift kit, and I'm talking about products in general :D

Didn't he ask about a shift kit? Their site isn't very telling. I know who they are. They have helped many a Mustang owner from the 5.0 days.

yep it was back in 05, suprahero posted the link on pg 1.

i had a full upgraded valve body and accumulators in my car. it shifted pretty hard, almost like someone bumped you from behind.

you can adjust the line pressure cable on the throttle linkage too, that will help shift better as well. and if you don't have a transmission cooler, get one!

Mine is behind a 1jzgte,:greddy2:
I have no idea if your car should be chirping tyres, if i was broke id be concentrating on just getting it running right and preserving it rather than worrying about spinning the wheels.

haha you are exactly right there... that's what I'm doing just trying to find out what has most likely been done to my car so I can either prepare for the worst or be happy about what I got. Right now I'm saving up so i can put in a metal headgasket, and go from their. Of course I'm doing all the little things as htey come along too but that's my next step for the moment. Strangely I think I have a record for stock headgasket or something :sarcasm: but thanks for all the help

My stock 7MGTE, stock A340E, chirps the tires in second.

I'll try to describe the difference again, even at just over half throttle it will chirp the tyres. It's a bit like just ripping it into gear in a manual box.
The the other non built factory box wont unless i'm pretty much spanking it, its designed to be smooth.Ask IJ if you need more info i'm pretty sure he has a MV auto's shift kit.
