a/t solonoids

i've tried searching the tsrm and both forums and can't find anything related

could someone point me or post up how to fix the solonoids on the tranny. Its for my mums car, the torque converter seems to lock up and not unlock, so cruising on the motorway, put foot down car just seems to boost and doesn't shift back down to 3rd or 2nd. Tranny just doesn't seem to like shifting under throttle. On the dyno a while back now we did a run in D (which i've done in mine and was fine but generally we do 2nd gear runs) she pulled 130kw/174hp, 2nd gear run we pulled 177kw/237hp - very big difference.

I drove another ma70 recently the tranny is a dream, drives so smoothly, shifts easily and very responsive, my mum's = a dog, feels like the handbrake is on

Please help give my mum back tranny response

Mine did the same thing, had 2 codes. No1 solenoid and lockup solenoid I think. Took the pan off checked all the wires they seemed fine, pulled the solenoids and hooked them to the batt they were fine.

I gave up, Im guessing its bad wires some where in the harness.

You need to ohm out the solinoids, and if they are out of spec, buy new ones from Toyota. They are about $100 each.

i can't really see the tranny being sick as it was perfect in original car, now it's ghey lol.
We initially had a speed sensor problem and it turned out that i had to install a 1 wire sensor vs the 2 & 3's that are out there, unsure of reason but made light go away lol

so thats cool, i need the measure the solonoids... got any specs for me? a page?

I thought downshifting for the auto was controlled by the TPS?
