lol you are all right i just want to get my car back working with as little down time as possible so that means i need a 7m been doing some redaing on the jdm 7m but seems like there lots of problems with jdm motors. then there are the people that have notting but good things to say. with my luck i tell you.

am in need of some supplyers of jdm 7m i think if i get a good low mileage one crack it open install a metal hg i'll be set.

and by the way why are you all being so hostile i just said i was thinking about. but after reading about all the parts that am going to need now way i can go 1j way to much down time plus it's not like i can go to the dealer and ask for a timing belt for a 1jz.

if the knock just start it's possible to save the crank if you dont drive it any more,

and have the rod resized. atleast checked out. worst case you buy a used rod from a fourm member..

if you drop 2k into rebuildin and mhg and arp studs and prep time for the 7m it will be just as stout as the 2j motor you will be in 3500 atleast.. ecu, harness , motor, bellhousing., clutch/ flex plate set up. motor mounts, cross brace if needed intercooler pipes, and what ever else you decided to change ..

stuff adds up exspecaily when every one has their price..

ive thought long and hard about it, im a mechanic, and im rebuilding my 7m right now. and just had a shop do my brothers, a balenced 7m rev's just as fast or faster then a jz, and can more then likely support the high rpms.

If you dont want to fix the rod knock, im sure you dont even wanna think about swapping engines!

If it was me, i would just rebuild, and make it better.

well am a machanic and i can swap in this motor in 8hrs or less it's not that hard rwd cars are all to easy i don't want to fix the knock because it creates to much down time. i just need to know if there are any other places then ebay to buy a motor.

plus the cost of a good rebuild would be way to high machine work plus parts.

Nothing more on that matter.

ians13: As long as your block and head are in good condition a new hg, shave, bearings, and hone will be better than getting another engine that you have no idea how it's been treated.

^ Rebuild it... I got some used rods if you need them.

I rebuilt mine for cheap, the worste part was waiting for machining. It's not race season anymore (I dont think) so you will probably have better luck than me. Just don't say "Whenever you get around to it..." :icon_bigg Also, you wont have to worry about oil leaks. Thats worth the cost of the rebuild right there in my book.

i wouldnt bet on JDM 7m, u could as well get one with rod knock or even blown head... I would go with a rebuild, when u have a nicely build engine, u know that it will last, but with JDM one u dont have any warrantys of how much will it work or even how good. Though its just my 2 cents

I doubt any company would send you an engine w/ RK. If you plan on doing a MHG, who cares if it has/had BHG? You'll be able to check for RK when you do the bearings, just try to wiggle the rods on the crank.

The crapp left in the oil pan can tell you a lot about it too.

I believe most companies will void your warraty if you take the head off. Maybe I'm wrong, but you may want to check into that if you are serious about buying one.

all this talk about dreaming and cars made me had a dream about having my car stolen...but it wasnt a car that i owned.

in the dream we just got a new car, i think it was an acura or something and then i didnt close the doors so i went to sleep, and then i heard my car alarm going off so i went outside, i looked there were 2 guys in the car, i went back in the house told my dad "get the guns were going to shoot these guys that are trying to steal the car" and when we got out they were gone, we found the car not too far away and there was a camera on the mirror so when we found the car we played back the video...and the theives were singing and dancing in the video not knowing they were being recorded. lol, oh yeah we caught them.
