Well Today the day before my car goes into the shop for HG repair, it develops a knock right at 2500rpm not very loud but you can hear it. am sure it's rod knock my oil is clean changed 300 miles ago castrol syntech 10/40 with lucus, how did this happen with i know my motor has over 167000 miles on it but still man it sux bad. so i guess now i need a motor.

cause the coolant might have mixed in with the oil. Rebuild it and your worries are gone ;)

well my Hg was not that bad it ran fine no smoke so over hears just bad cold starts and i checked the oil no coolant. well what ever the reason it's put me in a bad mood.

Supra curse man, Well if its a slight knock like you say (as if it just started) There is a SMALL possibility you can just replae the rod bearigns but i woudl get the crank machines to run 10 mm OS bearings all over.

Ummm...how will replacing a head gasket, fix rod knock? You need to worry about them both while the engine is apart...why have a car with a good head gasket, but with rod knock?? And then have to tear it apart again?:confused:

yeah jonh is right... replace both at once. thats half the work later.

just get them to look at it while its apart, but dont fret over it, its not a big deal if your engine is already apart, that takes away half the cost right there of repairing the knock.

ok i am at a cross roads now rebuild the 7m but what of reliablity, depenability. am thinking about a 1j swap i would have to install it my self what parts are needed how hard is it to swap.

jesus. the reason you have a BHG is because the previous owner saw first signs of BHG then sold it to you. dont be stupid.

don't do a swap unless you are 100% ready for one and know every last detail about the engine and hooking it up. Fix your current engine, the least you can do is sell it in a running state.
