A reasonable daily driver

I keep my supra bone stock because I like it as a daily driver. Even though I just had to drop $3K into the bhg.
I got the car (91 turbo with 116,000 mi) about 3 years ago now for $4500 from the original owner.
Its super comfortable, i put a decent bluetooth radio in it, and it's just fast enough for an old man. As I drove up to the lake the other morning I got behind due to some kids crashing their dressed up Scion and making a mess on the freeway. So anyways, as I was getting to be a little late, I took the back road into the lake and stepped on it a little bit. Its kind of a winding country road and the Supe just ATE IT UP! Talk about a FUN drive... How many beaters can provide that type of experience?
So I had to install new brakes and rotors on the front to the tune of about $350 and the wife says "this car is getting expensive eh?" To which I replied, "that was less than ONE month of your Prius payment! So what if the Prius gets 3 times the mileage...
The point is that even if you have to keep spending money here and there, overall the cost is less than a newer car, and the driving experience is fantastic!

That's a cool story, but I don't daily drive my supra. It's modified, loud and low. I have a 96 crv swapped honda civic that I've been daily driving for the past 7 years with absolutely no issues.

Would love to DD my Supra... but it doesn't do well in the snow.. or rain for that matter. The exhaust note is loud and drones at highway speeds. I'll stick to my WRX or Legacy as DD.

Mine is on the road ewery day. I've done 10 000km's over the year. Bone stock apart from short shifter. Still going.
BTW i drove it through the whole winter and i can say that it does pretty good in snow.

I DD mine aswell, also unfortunately had to winter it this past year. Its not too bad in the snow unless you come to a stop, then you're fucked.

To be honest i was a bit scared of the winter. This was my first winter with a rwd car. And what a winter it was... I have not seen so much snow and such low temperatures for a long time. Actualy, i enjoyed driving in these conditions. It's a good way to learn how a car behaves. Also, compared to summer, it's easyer on tires and other chassis components. In fact, i enjoyed the snaking back end and slipery cornering conditions. Of course, in normal trafic i was driving carefully, but if the road was empty.... The fun kept on coming.

If I didnt have to deal with snow I'd DD mine. A little rain never hurt anyone but that snow stuff can get messy

I DD my 89 1jz supra. My winter car stopped running this past year, so I DD the supra in the snow. It didnt do bad in the snow, you just have to drive smart.

Well put, sluggo! I couldn't agree more with the last statement.

Every time someone says something like that to me, I give them the same line. I'm not worried about trade-in value, or even resale value. The car is worth what it's worth to me, and I didn't buy it to trade it in in a few years. I love these cars, and a lot of members are getting 30mpg...

That's better than my 2.2L 2994 Subaru Legacy! (which is my vote for the perfect DD in New England btw)
