A Pretty Good Idea To Me

As some might know i'm going 1jz-gte but needed a crank...

Well i just got a 2jz-ge for $250 :evil2: I found it to be a steal so i got it :naughty:

Now i'm going 1.5jz-gte seeing as it is cheaper for me.

I know that it won't make too large horses with the 2jz-ge bottom end 15 psi boost max if im correct.

Heres the question the Mk4 supra turbo auto transmission is the A341E
But for the 1986-1998 supras/ Mk4-na is the A340E
My supra is an auto so i should be able to plug and play correct.

Small Parts List:
1jz-Gte/Ecu Wiring Harness
2jz-Ge
Walbro Fuel Pump
Mid-Oil Pan
Front Mount Intercooler

If there is any advise besides going manual please let me know while everything is out.

Transmission Info From Wiki....

Is your 1jz harness auto or 5 speed? IIRC, the jza70 auto used an a341e.

BTW, what turbo setup are you going to run?

my 1jz Auto harness was p&p with the mkiv auto tranny ( they all use the same connectors )

ill be taking it out in a few weeks for a 5 speed as this has been my third shimmed auto tranny.

Thats what i thought it would do its been hell for me to find a manual ecu then to transform it to 5 speed is also hell from what i hear....
Gl with the swap though

FYI: you can use the auto ecu with a 5 speed tanny.

2JZ-GE bottom end is identical to the 2JZ-GTE bottom end, except it has different pistons, and no oil squirters. Why would you be limited to only 15psi?

Thats what my boss told me

He said that i shouldn't do more than 15psi to be safe....

Mainly because of the different compressions

well if it has different pistons and the oil system is a little different i wouldnt call it identical ;) and its mostly the tune and the type of gas used but iv seen 970 on a stock ge block. ( dyno tune section on sf )

Correct. It's ALL because of the compression due to the pistons. It has nothing to do with the bottom end. Run a thicker head gasket, or aftermarket pistons, and you can run tons of boost.

the jza70 auto was an a342E the same as the ma70 a340e but with a bit higher line pressure, better shift points, a front speed sensor and it could handle about 50 extra horses.

also if you used a mark 4 auto with your soarer 1jz swap, you didnt change much that auto is very similar to the one your engine would have came with and the connectors are similar with that harness. the jza70 harness wouldnt have the same connectors and i doubt the jza70 a/t ecu would be able to control the electronic line pressure control either.

if your shimmed trannys are exploding, are you running a cooler or two? apparently that does seem to help but it really all depends on the amount of boost your running and if you pound the everloving bejeezus out of your near stock autobox.
