So i have an 88 turbo, probably about 40,000 miles on a swapped engine. I have a steel down pipe, 3" exhaust with cat on it. Runs good, i'm at about 10psi right now. Whenever i am decelerating, or run hard and come to a stop and push in my clutch, a massive cloud of white smoke comes out. Some say i am running lean, due to the fact that i am running 10psi. this makes sence to me, but i have the exact same problem at 6 psi. I dont get it.. is there anything i am missing? I thought the 7mgte usually runs a bit on the rich side.

Any help would be much appreciated, i just want to make sure i'm not overlooking anything that will cause engine denomination.

thanks,
-Scott

What he ^ said....

But I'll add turbo seals & a filled with oil intercooler.

Take the intercooler off, clean with the inside with gas - repeat.

Reinstall the IC and see if the problem persists.

If it does, you have one hell'va blow by problem out the cam covers, or you have bad cam seals & or bad valve stem seals.

The valve stem seals will most likely show themselves though under startup.

hottscennessey i'm having the exact same problem you are, identical. Mine only started last week and is blowing a heap of white smoke after I decelarate and come to a stop. The cars not overheating, it runs like a charm, no leaks but its just started to take up smoking (bad habbit). My guess is turbo seals, So now i need to start looking into a new turbo. Hooray!

Oh by the way do a compression test first to make sure its not head gasket, rings. If it really white smoke probably BHG, if its blueish prob turbo.

Wouldn't a blown head gasket be acomponied by a ruff idle?
