Man... you had my hopes up. I thought this was gonna be that video you promised of the burnout on the forklift until it freaking caught the wheel on fire.

umm..... ive heard that vista is ftmfl.... that is if you enjoy any types of computer games:naughty:

Vista is even worse

I run the only decent OS's M$ makes, and that's for Servers. I'm currently running Windows Server 2003 and will probably be upgrading to the next server OS they put out that's loosely based on Vista, but without all the garbage.

Sure, if you're running yesteryear's lackluster hardware. I've been running Vista since the release, I'm an avid gamer, and I haven't run into any problems. If it wasn't for my need to play games, I'd have switched to Linux for everything I do years ago.

Vista likes new hardware. So what... new hardware is cheap. I spend way more on my car than I ever do on hardware, and I still have leading edge computer equipment, I update about every 6 months.

ive heard it has a lot of bugs that will eventually be fixed after many updates in the future. So vista for me is a waste of money until they get crackin with those updates.

i buy new hardware when i need it.

i updated my video card for bioshock. got a 500gb external hardrive when i ran out of space..... put in a new soundcard about a month ago etc.

im pretty sound hardware wise.

i would like a quad core prossesor but idk if i can fit one. my tower isnt very spacious. its kinda backwards too...

I've heard that you can ride your pink unicorn to the moon for a generous helping of green cheese, too.

Don't believe all the BS posted on the net by the M$ haters. I've been running Vista for a long time, with Firefox, M$ Office, a crapload of internet apps, DVD burning / ripping / emulating software, VNC, Corel Draw!, Paint Shop Pro, ACDSee, Photoshop, CAD, a crapload of games both old and new, FRAPS, WinRAR, and another crapload of basic utilities.

I reboot my computer about once every 6 months after the initial setup. Guess how many crashes I've had since Vista shipped? Zero. Not even one. Nada. Zilch.

I work in the industry, so I can break this to you with some authority - EVERYTHING has bugs. And LOTS of them. I've regularly shipped products with a open bug database in excess of 50,000 entries. In my career I've probably shipped 1,000 products. I've had less than 50 of those bugs come back to haunt me because a customer found them. If you do the math, that's less than 0.0001%. Truth is, if your software dev team does it's job, you'll ship with the right bugs - meaning the ones the customers won't ever find or notice.

No, it doesn't. I buy nearly every RTS / FPS as it becomes available, as well as a decent number of the RPGs and some of the driving games. There was a bug that caused Supreme Commander to run slow on some maps, it's been fixed since SC Patch 1. That's the *only* problem I've seen.

I'm not a M$ fan, I abhor their business practices and terror based marketing, but I have to give credit where credit is due.

Dave, Macs never crash. Ever.
I love that one personally. Mac guys crack me up. :biglaugh:
Ya, tell that to the support staff here! Actually, I understand that their crash stats really are very low. Unfortunately, their users are even less capable than your average windows user group, so the support staff here spends an awful lot of time babysitting print jobs...

Didn't microsoft pretty much abandon vista already?
Trust me when I say that M$ will do their absolute best to cram it down your gullet, whether you want it or not, right up until they ship a new OS. Then it will suddenly be vastly inferior.

Hopefully they will get it right this time, only several years sooner.

Grim: not saying Vista is a bad product, but it's typical M$ bloatware.

It's the simple fact that it requires a TON of RAM to run, and with ZERO enhancement in speed over XP.

TO each their own I guess, but I like my stripped down OS's to something that has everything running that I don't and NEVER will need.

All OS's can be stripped down to some extent, but you can't turn off some of the huge memory hogs in XP/Vista.
