I was on my way home from a team meeting at work.

I come to the freeway change right before my house (for those of you in socal, the 60W to the 71)

I see a car moving pretty quick about 10 or more cars out in front of me heading towards the tight radius banked ramp. So I speed up to catch up to it. I can see he's gonna take the turn pretty fast. Before we get into the turn I'm right behind the car which I can now make out to be an Acura 3.2. I downshift to 2nd right before entering. He takes the outside lane in the turn so I follow behind, then cut into the inside lane and proceed to overtake him. By the time we're out of the turn I'm about 1/2 a car length in front and accelerate out, bang off the rev limiter with a little backfire, shift to 3rd and continue to accelerate a little further.

That was without a doubt more exciting and a bigger adreneline rush than any freeway race I've ever done. I've pushed my car hard through turns before but never as quickly as that or overtaking another car. I wasn't looking at my speedometer but just judging from my RPM in 2nd gear around 6000 through the turn, I'd guess I was moving through the turn somewhere around 50ish. Felt like a mild rollercoaster.

Now I can see why some of you are so into road racing and auto-X

Just for reference, my mods are H&R springs with Bilstein shocks, MKIV wheels, Falken FK 451 tires (235 front, 265 rear), and intake/exhaust/downpipe on the 1J.

So that's my different type of kill than what's normally posted here for the day.

i topped out 4th once through a corner, that was so amazing. I actually made my passanger cry. I love taking cars in corners, they think they are so fast until they have to turn. Well guess what, corners count too

Tokyo Extreme Racer for Dreamcast? Cuz that game rocked!

Anyway, I scared the hell out of myself one time in a clover leaf. Get this, 3rd gear, 40 mph, ~2900rpm, dry road I was taking the corner, got towards the end of teh ramp and hit the gas--I didn't even stomp it completely, and the tires broke loose. I ended up sideways on the freeway. Luckily I pulled out of it but thats the last time I try that craziness. I had no idea that they could possibly do that. I have a stock 91T, I know its not even putting out a full 230hp, and Z-rated tires. I was schocked cuz it broke loose before I even got above 0 boost.

Anyway, sounds like fun, just be careful about how much you're turned when you hit the gas ;)

Joe: What are the 451's like as a steer tire?

I run them on the rear with 03's on the front but my fronts are just about done!

They're pretty predictable. They start to make alot of noise approaching their limits of traction so it's easy for me to always know I'm near the limit but not quite. Not as sticky as the azenis but pretty damn good for the price and last a good long time as well.

This is my 2nd set and I'd get them again when these wear out but they've been replaced by the 452 so I guess I'll try that next.

oh. and right now with plenty of tread left they are holding all my power in a straight line.

before anyone makes a mindless torque comment, I had the same tires with my 7M and couldnt even break them loose when they were almost bald.

I come from a land down under
Straightline my rears are horrible but that's nothing a traction controller can't fix! (they wear very well though)

I really wanted some first hand experience on them as fronts though so thanks for that!
