I wouldn't pull the head back off unless you don't mind buying yet another HG. Composites don't usually like it once torqued down... if you used a tacking agent (ie copper spray or hylomar) forget about reusing that HG completely.

I'm not too sure about taking it off without having to replace the HG again. If it was a MHG yes, but a composite dosen't it have like a layer of sealant that once it's torqued it is a one time thing?

CRE beat me to it:)

Thanks for telling me that! I had asked that question earlier but no one responded.

I guess I will just keep it on and wait for it to blow if the head is warped...
I was thinkin I might as well take it off since if it does blow its another $85 down the drain for a new HG but if the HG is gonna be ruined if I take it off then I obviously wont.

EDIT: No spray was used.

I'm sure someone here has a head gasket to sell pretty cheap...post in the classified....

Or you can wait till you get the milkshake oil and blow all your bearings....

Seriously...take it off while you still have the choice...don't wait till you HAVE to! I know it sucks but atleast you have a choice this time.

Choice? Doesn't sound like much of a choice, Tyler. I'll take it off when I absolutely have to. AKA when the HG blows again.

I just spent $85 on this head gasket. I'm not taking it off and throwing it away. I should have just took $85 in cash and set it on fire. It's going to be used. If it blows then fine, THEN I'll throw it away.

Why would he take it apart again just to check for flatness?!?!

Leave it on and if you are paying attention to your car (like you have been) you will know almost as soon as it blows. Dont worry about it until it happens or you have a good week to tear it apart.

Fwiw though, I think *anytime* you do a HG, you should have the head machined/checked, but in your case it's too late.

My thoughts exactly.

Yeah, I figured its only been 2500 miles since I had it cleaned and machined. I didn't think about it warping from not being torqued correctly. Oh well.

Precisely how loose were the under torqued head bolts? And how hard you been driving the car?

Generally, if you've had it machined and checked the block deck when you swapped it... and you're not going to be bolting on a turbo anytime soon, I'd probably leave it.

They were not loose, per say. Just not as tight as the others. I used the torque wrench to take all of them off so I dunno. (it was set at 80 when i took them off) And I never really drive it hard.

And I'm leaving it in. End of discussion.

Haha. Yeah I guess it does. The valves all look ok then?

I think IJ peaced out because I'm not taking the head back off and taking it a machine shop...
Oh well, I don't blame him.
