My car has had no A/C for the past 4 years. There was no pressure in the system or any oil in the compressor before hand. I flushed all the lines. I replaced the drier, all the o-rings, expansion valve, and added 4.1 oz of mineral oil to the compressor. I ran a vacuum on it for 1hr and then let it sit for 30 min and it held full charge. I then charged it with 24oz of R12 freon and put in leak dye via A/C Manifold gauges through the low pressure side, and all throughout the A/C clutch never came on.
My current problem is that:
1) R12 A/C is not blowing cold air
2) There's no power to the compressor plug
Ive hooked up low and high side gauges and it currently reads:
@2000 RPM without the compressor engaged
Low side pressure: 70 psi
High side pressure: 70 psi
(which suggests that the A/C clutch is not operating)
I jumped the compressor (and it operates normally with the clutch engaged) to see how the pressures would change and they changed as follows:
Low side pressure: 0 to negative pressure
High side pressure: 70 psi (didn't move)
(this reading suggests there's a blockage somewhere on the line, but I'm ruling out the expansion valve because I just replaced it).
I also checked the Dual pressure port for continuity and its does. I even jumped the Dual pressure switch and the A/C compressor didn't engage, so it tells me that the problem isn't Low freon charge.
I can't seem to locate the problem of not getting cold air through the vents. Even if there was a leak (which is a must to get fixed) I should still temporarily feel cold A/C blowing through the vents.
The A/C Plug Connector has no voltage and neither does the AC Condenser Fan. I checked the fuses in the left kick panel, left engine compartment, right kick panel.
Can it be that both the A/C Magnetic Clutch Relay and A/C Condenser Fan relay are bad at once or something else that powers them like the A/C Amplifier? or the A/C Relay in front of the heater unit behind the gauge cluster?
I also felt the lines and traced them to the firewall. One line is cold to the touch from the A/C Compressor all the way to the firewall. The other line is hot coming from the A/C Compressor until it goes into the condenser and then no heat from the condenser out. The two lines at the drier are normal temperature. Can a clogged condenser be my issue?
Any ideas on what my next step should be?
