So I was driving back from classes today, and I thought "Well, the air is good and cold, maybe I should try an iPhone dyno run."
So, I found a nice stretch of road, pulled over, did the accelerometer calibration, and did the run.
I hadn't gotten a solid reading on it since I swapped the tired 5.0 for a slightly overbored and rebuilt 351W, so I was interested in getting a ballpark HP figure and 1/4mi ET. I was actually pretty surprised by the results.
It wasn't a perfect run as my tires hit some snow and spun for a moment when I "launched," but assuming a vehicle weight of 4700 lb and a 25% drivetrain loss (which is conservative, it's probably a higher number due to all the 4x4 nonsense going on underneath), i got readings of 0-60 in 9.5s, 1/4 mi in 17.5@ 90.8. Came out to roughly 260hp, bhp I believe. That brightened my day, I was only getting 185 at most with the 302.
