hey i recently purchased 91 supra 7mgte that was sitting around for a yr. i did a full tune up, and the car was slow as all hell. After like 1000 miles, its started to be a little bit faster and all but now since it opened up, i have engine coolant problems, I have to refill it like every 3 days. It just keeps driping out i think, although the big problem is that it happends when i beat on the car by like reving it up to like 5,000. i dont know sometimes when i park in place it will drip, and sometimes it wont. Does anyone know what the problem? i checked two hoses and they both were fine.. nothing is coming out of the exhaust so idk and i dont think its the headgasket...

The tests are fairly cheap, and shouldn't run over $50 (typical dealership is minimum one hour @ $50 an hour).

The burping we are all taking about....

Take your car and put just the front up on jack stands or car ramps.

Take the rad cap off, and fill with water. Squeeze both the top hose and bottom hoses and get all the bubbles you can get out of them.

Fill the radiator to the top with fluid. Install a NEW RADIATOR CAP. Squeeze the hoses again.

Take the cap off and fill with water again if needed to the top.

Put your cap back on the radiator, and drop the car.

See if that won't help your problem

how does driving the car another 1000 miles make it better? like im loosing more and more of engine coolant everyday. I have to refill it more often then before. Is there a way that it could be the headgasket burning it of?

go to autozone or uncle jimbo and borrow their/his radiator cap pressure tester. get the adapter to attatch it to the radiater and pressure test it while its cold. the system is supposed to operate around .9 bar which is around 13-14 psi. pump it up to about 20psi and see if it holds that pressure. it probably wont. now get out your flash light and start looking/listening for leaks. if you cant find any, chances are you have a blown headgasket.

to confirm, start the car up with the pressure tester and let it warm up all the way. the pressure shouldnt be more than 15psi. if it jumps all over the place, you have a blownhead gasket.

I think its called sarcasm. If I were you i would stop driving the car.

Well first off the the headgasket doesnt burn anything. But the combustion in your engine could, because of a failed head gasket. Search for a thread by TONY about BHG types. I believe its in the reference section. There is oddles of info about this topic.

does your oil cap have milky substance in it? like my avatar? has your car overheated in those 1000 miles?

Oil cap is fine and clean, the car now just recently has the gauge going crazy. After driving the car for a while it will make the gauge go up and down. Like it will be normal, it will go up like a cm before the top, and then when i press on the gas, it will go down again. Like whats the deal with that ??!!

If you suspect a BHG DON'T drive the car if you can help it as the potential to trash the motor totally is too high.....:nono:

well that kinda sucks cuz thats my everyday car :-/ idk, i wont beat on it no more and i will do the tests tomoro and ill try to determine if its a BHG or the radiator or something

My 87 was very similar, and I drove it for over a year. If I stayed out of boost, I didn't need to add water for about a week. If I ran it hard, water was needed daily. I had nothing else to drive, and only worked a mile from the house. I was working on getting my 90 going, so I decided to keep driving it til it got worse. I knew what I was doing was WRONG, and had to keep going, and I just realized when it quit, I would replace the entire motor. It did fine for a YEAR, and I had a couple of 1/8 mile type races (never got beat). It didn't give out until I had it pressure tested. I was sure it was head, but the mechanic that diagnosed my bad CPS argued with me. I let him test it, and he claimed it was OK. 3 days later that motor emptied the radiator out the tail pipe. New motor is coming now.
