At 8:46 on this day 5 years ago, flight 11 hit the north tower of the World Trade Center. 87 people on board and an unknown number of people working in the tower were immediately killed, setting off a chain of events that will go down as the worst act of cowardise ever perpatrated on American soil.

I would like to ask that we all set asside our political agendas in this thread and leave it only as a rememberance for those that lost their lives that day, and to honor the men and women of service who died that day doing their jobs, and those that have died since in the service of their country.

::salute::

I remember exactly where I was, what I was doing and who was there when I heard what was happening on the news.

Rest in Peace, all who gave their lives, and lost their lives. God bless America.

I was listening to Howard stern(I woke up to it, Fell asleep to Live 105.) And I thought it was one of his sick jokes. I turned it off and wlked out to the front room. Saw it unfold.

I was at my (at the time) girlfriend's mom and stepdad's house. I'd spent the night there. I was in the bathroom, and I heard my wife's step dad say "What the fuck..." and I came out and was like "What?" Then I saw the building... and we all just sat there and watched. I was late for work... but so was everyone else...

I bought some newspaper's from various places on sept 12th, the day after, and wrapped them up to keep a piece of history. I'm anxious to look at them and see what was said in the newspapers after less than 24 hours.

i was laying a drive way at a house in south shields (where im from in england) and i had just had my dinner and said to my mate wally, Right mate ive gotta go see the physio (i had broken my ankle at soccer a few months prior) i jumped in my van and drove a mile to my home and my dad was like Paul you gotta come see this, some lunatic has hijacked a plane and crashed it into the world trade centre. Iirc that was 1.59 pm uk time. I think the images of that day will stay with everyone who watched them unfold on tv forever.

Oh i just remembered this. when i got to the physio i told everyone there and nobody beleived me.

I remember that picture of the fireman running up the stairs just before the colapse helping people to get out. Didnt everyone think he had been killed but he turned up a little while later. The guy with the moustache.

i had forgotten about that happening like.

My cousin was taking a friend to work at the pentagon that morning. he never worked there he was just passing through. but it was a big worry. I remember my mam crying about that as she had just been talking with my auntie that morning. remember it happened after dinner time here. and she had mentioned what he was gonna be doing that day
