89t Vs Gto

This is kinda a poor excuse for a race but thought I'd post anyway. I am on my way home from cruising around town when I pass a GTO. He looks over at me and gives the "I think I'm the shit look". So I ignore him and pull up to the left hand turn lane of a major two lane intersection. He pulls behind me and keeps revving his engine, so I figure what the hell. I assume we are going to drive side by side then go for it. So we get the green left turn arrow, and I ease on the pedal a little more than normal and take the turn and shift into second. The GTO fish tails around the turn and I can see him coming strong behind me. I stay in second and give it the gas and he keeps pulling hard and passes me. He instantly puts on the hazards, which pissed me off. I tried to get him to go again but he just rolls up his window and ignores me. I don't know a whole lot about GTO's but definitely know it would have been closer had we gone again.

3' exhaust no cats
intake
Lex afm/550cc
fpr
rebuilt engine
forged pistons

I'm guessing I have somewhere in the upper 200s in hp. Correct me if I am wrong but don't GTO have close to 400?

damn that sux. i hate when people do that shit. if im not mistaken they are 400hp but the new 05 i think is 450hp yeah it would have been closer but hey they are quick though. you'll see him again then just bust his balls.

The newer GTO's with the 'hood scoops' have 400. I think prior to that it was 350 or what ever the c5 vette has.
How much boost are you running?

It looked new but from my rear view mirror I didn't notice any hood scoops, but it was kinda dark out. He definitely had an edge on me though. Right now I don't have a boost controller so I am bascially running whatever boost over stock with the mods I have. I probably think around 8psi maybe, not sure though.

I think Tom Breeze from these forums took one out but he's running an upgraded turbo with more boost than you..But dont worry you're only a few dollars away from glory..lol..

Did it have dual exhaust on both sides of the back...or 2 tips both on the left?
I drove one back when they first came out with 350 hp, and they are pretty damn fast...

I hate the hazards thing... There should be tests before someone buys a car to see whether theyre deserving or not.

Ya Mass, I agree. I beleive it had duel exhausts on both sides. Probably the 400hp version.

A guy in my area has one of the older, 350hp ones, he ran like a mid 11 with intake, dumped headers, cams, and maybe a chip. They are pretty fast stock plus it appears they have great potential.
