My supra just won't start. I even tried a push start and it still won't run. Everything is on correctly oil filter, and oil were put in correctly.... However now that I think about it could it be becuase I didn't put any oil in the oil filter? SO it's not getting that kick start. PLease let me know asap i need to get it outta my buddy's garage. Sorry I am a noob and I am panicing.

I am not worthy of this car BUT I NEED TO PRESS ON I CAN DO IT I KNOW I CAN!

I'm sure its got nothing to do with the oil, that sounds weird. A car can still start with no oil in it, but it's obviously very bad for it. Try to see if any codes pop up. Do you have a super monitor? You can run codes through that.

Well we got it started we took the one of the spark plug wires off grounded it with a flat it and started.

It was very wierd then to top it off since if have a bad clutch I stalled it on a hill and went backwards into a wall. Body is fine but my 89 tail light driver side is gone. So now I need to replace it =( The whole thing was wierd I am just glad it wasn't someones car....

Well okay check this out. The Soup seemed like it wasn't fireing right. I have fuel, oil, and a good starter. It was wierd we grounded the spark plug wire and it started like nothing. Also today when I was running it around town I noticed that my idle was at 500rpm and I set it at about 700rpm. then when I took off and came to another stop the idle went back up. Sometimes when I start it, it starts up really choppy, then subsides and goes back to normal. Could my coils be giveing out or maybe the ground is going on it. or my igniter. And could my TPS be giveing out as well? I am going to check my codes today so I'll post up whats up.

I keep forgeting to check the codes on this car I've been so busy lately is crazy! I have to check this weekend. What does it mean when the car seems like its starveing after 5000rpm I think most guys have this problem and I heard a nice DP helps.

check your intake boots and make there's no air getting in. Mainly the one from the air flow meter to turbo inlet. make sure the p/s vacuum lines are on at the pump.

you say you "set" your timing? if you did so by adjusting the screw on the throttle body, you are introducing a problem to the car. that screw is set closed from the factory. and should not be messed with. that is why on the later models it is capped of, i.e the screw on you afm is capped of cause it is not supposed to be messed with. JJ is correct the isc manages the idle up portion, the dp system i believe is vacuume controlled, and will let the idle slowly come down. i had simaler probs with my 87t and used this site like the bible, now my car has been running very well cause i listend to the peeps on here, u just gotta weed out the bad info, your spark issue might be due to the small harness that clips to the coils and the other side to the harness. mine was shorted there and would cause that same issue your having. your idle, could be the same as mine, first, if you messed with that screw on your tb, put it all the way in (tight) make sure your timing is set correctly with the car at the proper idle (dont forget to jump the 2 tallywags on your diagnostic port) then clean your tb good. mine was kinda gummed up and caused simaler issues. remember, the cars 20 plus years old, not everything is gonna be like it was when it sat on the show room floor! ;) did i miss anything??

theres a screw with a nut which you can adjust the idle on the linkage on the side of the throttle body. the screw that is capped off is for a/f mixture

Yes I know I was confused by the other guy because he was talking about the screw on the TB yeah I never touched that I only adjust throttle by the screw on the linkage. I am thinking that it doesn't maintain idle because my linkage is broken and is held by tie straps. As for not starting I am going to make sure non of my spark plug wires are not crossing which I think they are so I will straighten them out. I will also clean the TB and I will look for a new linkage. It is hard to find any turbo supra in the yard. I also got my hands on a HKS DP for cheap and I installed it. The car runs very well infact it's alot faster and scares me espcially in the rain LOL. I will becareful!

Just to straighten some things out:

1) Jdub did not post incorrect info. My reply was an inside joke.

2) Power steering idle up aside, the ISCV manages *all* target idle speeds. The throttle plate is supposed to be set fully closed.

3) Idle should not be adjusted using the throttle stop screw.

4) The "capped off" screw on early throttle bodies is not for idle air/fuel ratio adjustment. Any attempt to use it as such will be unsuccessful.

That's because you "set idle" with the TB linkage stop screw...it can't be done. The ISCV will just change it back to what the ECU determines as target idle.
