(whats up, new to the site so most of this is copied and pasted from another fourm i'm on... enjoy :biglaugh:)

i have always wanted a MKIV since i saw one auto-xing when i was like 12 and i have been saving for one since my first job, but being in college has been tight so my dreams of owning a supra before i graduate college seemed slim to none....

Until my buddy found a '89 Supra Turbo and we decided to go halfs on it and make it into a auto-x/track car. the Car was very cheap since it had a wharped head and thats all it needed (i hope). My buddy goes to salsbury and the car was at R&H toyota down the road from my school, i decided to check it out during my break between classed. i went in talked to my buddy who is a sales guy and than met the dude selling the car and he showed me it and told me what all was wrong and what happened and long story short and we went through with the deal and i picked it up thursday after class. as soon as i got home it started to rain and we had to push the car into the garage since it didn't run, which was a pain since it was only my lil brother and my sister who was home. luckily, my buddy eric was on his way home and swong by and helped and my buddy jimmy came to put a racing stripe on my race porsche, so we managed to get in in the garage out of the rain.

imedately i started tearing it apart and since it needs a new paint job, i got the hood, bumper, grill, and fender off, sanded and primered and alot of lil things until we get the head to work on the motor....

and here are the pics of the process so far in the last 2 months maybe

we would have gotten more done tonight but we messed with the last head nut for ever until we realized that it wasn't even threaded  :013:  :squintfawk: so we will place a very nice phone call to ARP tomorrow.....

i taped up the interior windows and than i decided to sand and paint the shifter and the e-brake for the hell of it since i was borded but didn't want to tackel the wire harness by my self yet and figure might as well before the interior is painted...

before; after taped up the leather

after

it should stand out a lil and look good with the interior silver and the cage blue..

wow good work thus far, i would like for you to come up north and do my cars paint and whatnot...
But one thing stands out... Did you deck the block and head before putting on that metal head gasket? Did you cut the front timing plate so the head gasket isn't being pushed up? if you didn't.... well be prepared for the worst....

the turbo is back on the car

the build up of my custom door panels... when these are done, dash is next

the frame work

the fabric laied out and tucked

the door handle and locks, and marks for the scres so i can pull it back off to finish it

first coat of resin to turn the fabric into fiberglass

pulled it off and resined over everything else...

first coat of marsglass bondo (white hardner)

2nd and hopefuliy final coat (used red hardner so i can tell spots if i missed them) and definately felt a lil :048: when this was done from bad ventalation in the garage

now all i gotta do is sand it til its perfect and than paint it and thats one panel down

This car will look real pretty but won't go anywhere when your headgasket blows from not being correctly prepared. (See CryoSlash's post)

All that awesome paint work and you going to leave the turbo all ugly....?

Polish the front and paint the back of it black....You can even leave it on the car ;)

kinda new to the supra thing, mainly work with porsches and i do alot of stereos....

the timing cover plate is the metal peice behind the cams?

and does that hurt anything if u don't run that or where would u cut it so it doen't lift the HG?

i decided to start tearing down the dash to re fab it up and get rid of the baby poo brown fake leather that was a pain in the ass since it was all dry rotted. i plan on using the basic shell of the stock dash but fiberglassing it and molding the center peice more angled at the drive fo better view off gauges and what not. (simular to the mk4 supra style)

i also took off the passenger fender that had a dent in it to knock the dent out and sand it down and primer it.

joe came over and we decided to crack down and see what was wrong. we cranked it with the oil pack un plugged after we drained the oil and put new oil in it to build up the oil pressure. and we decided to try again and see what happens. we plugged the coil packs back in and cranked... it cranked and cranked, sputtered and than started for 3 seconds and than died. after yelling and cheering back and forth we tried again and it started right up!!!!!:bananahump-slvrathl:goldcup::thumbsup::luv:

it was smoking reall bad and leaking some stuff so we decided to pull it out of the garage for the maid in voyage of the car

pulled it out and found a few leaks that we fixed right away, a hole in the cat and a few other leaks. also found that the power sterring needs to be bleeded....

unfortunatley with the amount of smoke coming out the exhaust its looking like a blown HG bu hopefuliy the smoke will die down once it runs longer and we do some more system flushes....

joe unveild the supra logo on the back since it has finally started

some pics of starting to fiberglass the dash....
the dash cracked and broke when i ripped it out so i had to reconnect it...

first fiberglass cloth on above driver's side

resined the front part to set the cloth...

resigned the rest and laid the second cloth for the passenger side

top all resined up...

i also primered the passenger side last night so now the whole car is primerd
