Trying to put shit together and I can't remember where all the bolts go :(. I had them organized, but moving really screwed everything up. Nothing is where it should be. FML.

Thats exactly what happened to me (without the move). I had them organized, then I moved in a different car.. and lost track of what was where.. I have to go through everything 3-4 times everytime I need a screw just to be sure.

Best way is when you get stumped.. create a "what the hell fits here" thread..
I have 3 Mk3's.. so I can refer to them when I get stumped.

Thanks guys. LOL. I'll figure it all out eventually. For now, feast your eyes on the first pics in months.

First: pics of what my car will look like except a few small visual differences like color and moulding. The wheels are the same as what I'm getting with less aggressive offsets so I can fit more meat.

Was trying to figure out where the return oil from the filter goes. I guess oil from the filter goes straight to the turbo and squirters first?

sm_photo_missing.jpg

Has anyone ever fitted a teflon bladed crank scraper?? any insider info??? I think I did it right, but the directions are a little vague...

sm_photo_missing.jpg

sm_photo_missing.jpg

I wish I could just get a complete set of new sensors... Anyone have a new one for the very top of the water neck?? and can anyone tell me if those 2 newish temp senders can replace my old stock one? the outsides and threads are identical, but the inside is skinnier on the new ones...

sm_photo_missing.jpg

Cut a new waterneck gasket

sm_photo_missing.jpg

Metal gasket sprayed with copper sealant

sm_photo_missing.jpg

My dumbass forgot to put the coolant supply pipe on first.

sm_photo_missing.jpg

sm_photo_missing.jpg

sm_photo_missing.jpg

Couldn't resist.

sm_photo_missing.jpg

I like how the stock pipes just fit perfectly

sm_photo_missing.jpg

As compared to the braided kits... too much haphazardness

sm_photo_missing.jpg

The small pipe rubs on the fitting... I don't like that

sm_photo_missing.jpg

After much thought, I decided that you can't really improve on the oil flow with the stock tubes, and the braided kits are really just a bling factor. As such, I'm just going to gold tape the stock tubes and use them until I upgrade turbos. My braided kit will be going on sale.

Thanks guys!! It's something new haha. It seems I have not been updating very well... need to upload a lot of pics. Stand by :)

(but, yeah the current FML is due to the crank scraper still not fitting correct after I double, triple and quadruple checked the clearances before applying a whole tube of FIPG to seal up the bottom end. Went to turn the crank and it got stuck on one of the metal blades of the scraper, so I had to tear it all apart. Gonna give it another shot later today, and this time I'm going to check clearances with the oil pan ON as well to be sure it all fits correctly.)

Looks great.
Scary how close your actual build is to mine, as far as parts choices are concerned.
Dunno if I will rock the gold tape, though...
