Hey folks.

Like the thread says I have an 87 with a 2JZ swap and an AFC Neo that wont turn on and my car wont start. My battery is good, alternator is good and starter is good. The AFC wont turn on at all and as a result my car wants to turn over but isn't getting anywhere. I tried disconnecting the AFC and it wouldn't turn over. All my wiring connections are good going in to the harness. I took apart my ECU and nothing looked fried or damaged... I also tried disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and that didn't help either. I'm not any good with wiring and fresh out of clues... Anyone got any ideas?

if the safc isnt turning on with ignition on then i suspect one of the following

1. incorrect power or grounding of the unit
2. faulty unit...

double check wiring diagrams used and make sure you are using either a us spec wiring diagram to a us spec 2jz ecu or a jap spec wiring diagram to a jap spec ecu

Answer this before doing anything.

Do you have a functioning check engine light? If so, does it light up when the ignition is turned on?

If so, then the problem is with fuel, spark and timing.

If there is NO check engine light with the key on and it was hooked up and worked properly before, this means your computer is not turning on and you need to check to make sure the computer is getting a switched 12V to turn on.

-I had it professionally installed by a reputable Supra mechanic because I'm crap with wiring and it all worked fine before.

-The check engine light is functional but does NOT light up during ignition. Today when I tried to start it I could hear a clicking coming from the ECU (my ecu is mounted where the passengers feet go, out in the open) and my voltmeter reads 11.72 on the battery so it's not dead.

-The EFI fuse is NOT blown. The car ran fine before this weekend.

This all started this weekend while I was trying to install a keyless entry system (which I removed after the car stopped running). I had been tinkering with the car all day and periodically starting it to make sure I didn't run the battery dead. The only thing I could think of was that I removed an old harness to an AFR gauge that I replaced a while ago, but the car still ran after I removed that. There is a solid RED wire coming from the harness of the AFC that runs to a WHITE wire that is connected to my light panel. But like I said, everything initially ran fine after I cut the old harness loose.

Right now the car is acting like the battery is dead and behaves the same way when I try to start it. I've tried jumping it and nothing.

Does the car actually have power? Do any lights illuminate up when you turn the ignition on?

If the check engine light is not illuminating, that means the computer is not turning on. If not lights are. It turning on, the car doesn't have power. Does the engine crank when you turn the key? Does the engine just crank but doesn't start?

Yes the car has power. My stereo doesn't come on and my antenna wont come up, all the other stuff looks normal. Usually when I go to start the car, the door warning, brake light warning and check engine light come on. Today the check engine light didn't come on. Is this what you mean when you say the ecu isn't getting power? The engine cranks and cranks but wont start. Today, after the stereo lost power, it stopped trying to turn over and you could hear the starter clicking. After I tried to jump it, it went back to continual cranking.

Well, have you checked all fuses?

Sounds like the computer is not turning on if the check engine light is not coming on.

Check the switched source for the ECU switch.

My fuse box is broken in to bits so I didn't see the last set of fuses at first. The CDS fuse was blown. I replaced it today and still nothing. My car is acting exactly like it has a dead battery only my battery is fully charged. What the hell is this? It's like my Supra got AIDS... What do you mean by check the switched source?

The plastic case that holds all the fuses is cracked. My last group of fuses was loose in my bay because they weren't held in tight and that's why I didn't see them. I ordered a replacement as soon as I realized how bad it was.

I know this is a somewhat dead post, however, I would like people in the future to know what happened. Although on my first check, none of the fuses were blown, on my second check I had one break apart as I pulled it. Not really sure how it got so brittle but it was. I replaced it and it started right up. Much to my shame, I have to admit it was just an overlooked fuse...
