Is it just some select few supras or is it quite a few 87's that have a problem starting up after running the car for a good while?

I just got a new starter installed by the one and only Jose, and the day after i picked up the car i drove to LA. When i turned off the car and after 5 minutes i went back to move it again and it wouldnt start!

I gave Jose a call and he said he changed everything that deals with the problem, and he is still stoked. He said his supra does that to him sometimes too.

So i just wanted to know if its just me or are there other 87 supras that have this issue.

Mine starts everytime I hit the key. The only time it doesnt I just nudge the gear selector forward a bit. (Really need to adjust that BTW.)

Is the starter turning or is it just dead? If it’s turning it could be some kind of hot soak/vapor lock problem. My 87 does that from time to time. If it is dead I would try looking at the neutral start switch or the transmission linkage. Is it an automatic?

Happened to me a few times.. But that was at the track with like 30 min of non stop beating haha. But my battery was weak at the time too.. and after I changed that no starting problems so far.

I have Aug 86. Why does it even matter.. I don't think it is the date of the car but more of the date of owner was produced... j/k but yeah how old is your battery..

Oct. 86, and never hard to start when hot. Cold is a different story....

Good battery, and keep the terminals clean and lubed. I found this copper stuff that you paint on elect. connections to keep them from corroding, but can't remember what its called...

Just because it says 12v doesn't mean it still has high load. Shoot my bat said it higher then 12V but it sucked when it came to cranking.

If the needle doesn't move at all your shit is the broke ;) Well then I have answer... but it is not based on when the car is made as you think it is.

I kinda had a similar problem, but it had nothing to do with my engine or starter...it was just my alarm that killed the ignition. Do you have an aftermarket alarm, if so that maybe the problem?
