I made a thread in the new members forum awhile back, but i figured i should make a thread in here that i could update on a regular basis. For those of you that dont know, this is Hams old car, i am the third owner of it since Hams sold it a few years ago.

Since it left him its been through hell and back, from a 900whp monster when a local guy owned it, to a tore apart beat up shell when i finally got my hands on it. Car came to me as a semi rolling chassis, no suspension, brakes, engine or tranny.

The goal for this car is to make a track car that can still be street driven on the weekends or sunday cruises. When the car is done, id like to see it make a high 8 second pass on a fully built engine. For next summer we plan to run a stock 2jzge engine and hopefully make a few 10 second passes.

LOL, the car sits on jack stands now, thats just how we had to transport the car to my place since it had no suspension. I just purchased the silk road coil overs that were originialy on this car, so i just need to install them once the cage is done.

Well, it has to get worse before it can get better. It only looks bad because its apart for the cage and there is a layer of dirt/dust on it. This comes along with building a full cage/race car. With a good wash/wax, and the interior back in it, it will look good as new.

It is sad to see the car in its current state, I've had a ton of great times in the car from back in the day, I guess they are just memories now. I can't imagine how Chris feels.

Its good to see that you're putting a powerful motor in the car, but stripped out with a cage and a powerglide just isn't what the car was about. It was a pure street car with the ability to outhandle and outrun just about anything you'd be able to find. Unfortunately the previous owner (or one of the few owners since chris) stripped it and parted it out, which is why it is how it is now :(

Take care of it, you have a real gem of a supra with a TON if history.

I think you guys are basing it souly on how it looks right now. Im a tool and die maker by trade, the little details is what i do for a living! I dont half ass'd anything, including previous cars that ive built.

Yes the car is getting a cage, but when im done with the cage work, you will hardly even be able to tell there is a cage in it. Yes in the interior is stripped out, but once the cage work is done, everything minus the rear seats will be going right back into the car.

The only differance between how the car was when Chris had it, and how i plan to build the car is an auto tranny instead of 5 speed, and i'll be using a larger turbo. I just finished buying back the silk roads that were previously on the car, koyo rad, gauges, and a few other things that were left from the part out.

Im 100% confident that when im done this car will be just as clean, if not cleaner then it ever has been :)

And id really like to keep whatever beef Chris and the previous owners have against each other out of this thread. I have nothing bad to say about either parties, and dont really know the whole storey, nor do i have any ambition to find out. This thread is about MY car, and what i plan to do with it. If you have questions about whats going on with Chris and the previous owner, please PM them directly.

well said, just have IJ or another mod delete any more posts having to do with the previous owners in this thread

getting back on topic, what is the A/R on that turbo? looks gigantic. and what are u going to use for management?

I believe it has an upgraded 1.15 a/r on the compressor side, but i cant remeber what the turbine side is off the top of my head. I bought the turbo used but freshly rebuilt about a year ago, so id have to dig back aways to verify this. Not sure if you guys have seen the car or not, but i came off of the 2jz ford probe. Search youtube and you'll find a ton of vids.

As for engine managment, i am probably going to go with an AEM unit. I was looking into the motecs, but after i seen the price tag associated with them i'll probably stick with the AEM.

One question for you avid supra owners. Im new to supra's so bare with me. Front bumper support/crash bar whatever you'd like to call it. Im trying to mount the bumper without it (to save wieght) but since the car came with the bumper cover off, im not 100% sure how it gets mounted. It almost looks like the crash bare supports/holds up the bumper in the center section and the cover gets fastened on the sides by the turn signals/marker lights?? So in other words id have to keep the front crash bar in or make a lighter bar out of aluminuim ?

Nope front bumper can be mounted with out the steel crash bar same as back. I have mine out of the front and the back.
Don't mind if everyone rips on you for taking out safety items almost everyone I know with a performance car has taking out crash bars. It seems almost everyone on this forum hates on guys like us for removing them. But to each there own.

So what would hold the bumper cover up in the center of the car? The bumper was taken off when i bought the car so i didnt have the luxury of seeing how it comes apart. Does anyone happen to have any pics kicking around?

That was the nicest MK3 I've ever seen when Ham had it...
It sold for one of the highest prices I've ever seen a MK3 go for too.

Ughh.

Glad your at least doing something productive with it even though it pains me to even see a cage in a car that I know used to be almost 100% perfect back in the day.

And don't get me wrong I'm really loving the build you are doing but the history will always be remembered by some of us...
