Ok all, I picked up a 87-88 Automatic harness today with the entent on Pulling it into my supra. Very good condition harness. So after alot better look at it, I noticed that there isnt a starter wire......

Manual tranny Harness have the small wire that connects to the starter but this one doesnt. Am I missing something here. How does this harness get power to the starter if it doesnt have the small wire. How would you convert that harness to run on a Manual tranny as Ive seen so many times done before without that small wire going to the starter. I see that about 6" into a manual harness that the Blue/black wire comes off the harness to the connector, The auto harnesses come out to a Plug.

Help me out here all. I want to get this one in but not until I figure this out.

Thats my point. The manual harness has on but for some reason the Auto harness doesnt on this one. sorry for the crappy Pic. Dam camera Phone.

Its a Blue/Black wire coming from the manual harness with a Brown female plug.

Thanks JJ for the Post.

You just showed me how to do my AT to MT wiring without having the Neutral Position Sensor Wiring Dangling.

You're welcome but the STA wire should be there. Maybe he's not looking in the right place.

Be careful how you mess with that NSS circuit btw. Simply jumpering the connector will result in no cruise control...

Im looking in the corrrect place. What I did is pilled a little of the Wiring back on the Manual harness and one of the wires that split off the starter wire goes to the CSI as it states in the Diagram.

On the Auto harness, I did the same thing looking for the Blue/black starter wire and infact the blue/black wire is going to the CSI, Only difference is that at where the slice is, the manual harness has 3 wires which include the starter wire and the Auto harness has 2 wires which the blue/black wire goes to the NSW. there is the black.white wire there also on the NSW.

Ok, Here is a better Pic. The auto harness as you can see only has 1 extra wire coming off the Split going to the NSW with that wire going to the CSI. there isnt a starter wire anywhere.

The mannual harness has 2 wires coming off the Split with one wire going to the CSI and the other one I dont know but there is a Starter Connector.

Yep, the STA wire is there. Small black/blue wire

Again, is there a wire on STA at the ECU connector?

This would be a lot easier if I knew how the harness was installed on your MKII. Where is the ECU located in the car? Where is the Circuit Opening relay and starter relay located? Why not make the connection there? Why are you even screwing around with this auto harness?

Yes, there is a wire on STA at the ECU.

The Open circuit relay is located at the drivers side Kick Panel. Harness is Installed Exactly like it is in the MK3. Starter relay, I need to find.

Only harness that we found to be decent shape Yesterday.

Then use an ohmmeter to find the other end of the wire on STA. It has to have another end right?

Again, why even use that harness? If the COR is in the pax kick panel so is the starter relay. If the ECU is nearby (you didn't answer the question) why not simply connect STA to the COR or starter relay?

So you are saying tap the STA wire up close to the ECU and run it directly to the Starter relay and leave everything else alone on the manual harness?

Yes. It doesn't matter where the STA signal comes from as long as the ECU gets it. The start coil of the COR and the starter relay are normally all connected to the same point anyway. Your STA signal may not be reaching the ECU through the normal path but it has to be working at the starter relay and COR or the engine wouldn't crank and run. Just tap STA into one of those points.

ECU is on the Passenger side as like the MK3s
OCR (open Circuit relay) is in the Driver side Kick panel

I got it. There is a DifferenCE between where they put the Relays between the 2 models. MK3 has them in the right Kick Panel. MK2 has them in the Left Kick Panel. I will get a wire over to it and let you know how it turns out.

Thanks JJ.
