Whats up guys... I just bought a 87 turbo supra . I drove it home from NJ to TN and then it cut out on me and wouldnt start. Well I determined that the morons that had the car befor had stait wired the car for the fuel pump to work .... That is my first question ... Is there a fuseable link that goes bad commonly , I know it has a few , just wondering wich to check . Second, I have the fuel pump working now but the car still wont start , sounds like it wants to just doesnt . I did a diagnostic on it and it threw a " 51 " code wich means ..
. a/c switch circuit (tested with a/c off)
. TPS IDL circuit
. Neutral start switch circuit ( i tested with the car in neutral)
. accelerator pedal , cable
. ECU

This is all from a factory toyota manual ( Im a tech at toyota )
Any help would be greatly appritiated
Thanks guys

If the car was modded the person might have been doing a ghetto 12v mod. There aren't really any common failure points regarding the fuel pump. Trace out the wires with a wiring diagram to find the failure point (if any).

Code 51 usually is TPS. Check it's alignment first. The car will usually start with a code 51, but if you have any other small problem it could multiply the effect and keep the car from starting.

...should start with the code 51. I'd re-check basics, spark and a bottle of ether should get you started, then diagnose from there.

From what I understand, the 12v mod simply replaces the fuel pump resistor with a straight-connection to supply your pump with a constant voltage. It is not suggested with the stock FPR and ECU from what I've seen, can definately shorten lifespan of the pump.

(by the way, where in Knox? ...keep an eye out for a black/white/or brown second-gen. ...don't rev at the brown one.)
