Because they were not all tested by the same equipment, in the same location, with the same driver and driving style, air temperature and humidity, etc. You can take any model vehicle and find an easy 25% variability in 0-60 times for the same vehicle. Consumer reports is usually very slow, C&D is typically fast. Your list has absolutely no verifiability as to source or conditions, so what do you expect?

Alls i was asking here is why would it be? just because of weight or what?
weight and gearing... also gearbox as well... were these auto or manual, who knows?

too many variables to be sure... what we do know though is that the 86.5 is the lightest of the mk3's, we also know what gearing each year model came with from the factory... just do your research, the info is there

Where in there does it state auto or manual transmission? With a manual, the turbo isn't as much of an advantage in the 1320, though it should still be faster.

The turbo gets taller rear end gears, even taller after 1989, which won't help quarter mile times. They also might have taken something with a different set of options. Even if it's the same magazine testing the cars, there are still a lot of variables.

From our point of view now though the difference that we should care about is the potential power that each will have on the same budget.
