so i am comming home from work, i have snow tires on the rears cause of the 6 inches of snow recently, and i see in front of me two cars comming on to the highway i was on at high speed. speed limit is 60 and it seemed like they where doing about 70-75. so i decide to catch up to them and one ends up being a nissan maxima with exhaust, lowering kit, and possibly an intake. so i pass him goimg about 80 and start to slow down at a light. we end up staging up and just as the light is about to turn green, he rolls his car to a 1/2 car lead. luckily i get a better reaction time, and we stay head to head till about i hit second gear, and i start pulling. Third gear comes and i've got a car length on him, and still pulling. thats when i realize that he has no chance and i slow down. i heard that nissan considered this maxima as a four door sports car. i think nissan needs to realize what a real sports car is before they make claims.

Not bad at all..... you actually drive yours in the snow? By the way, how does it do with snow tires?

I went toe to toe with a 98 Maxima that my friend had. Damn things are quick as long as they have the manual transmission, the auto version is a dog.

nice kill, keep showin them Nissans wassup. jk, i love Nissan.

from what i've heard, don't mess with their new line of Maximas and Altimas though... woo. my friend said his z32 would get walked on by em, so basically our mkiii's would only beat em by like 3-4 car lengths then.:sarcasm:

Dude, why would you put them only on the back? Stopping/turning is typically just as if not more important than accellerating. I couldn't recommend enough to get a full set of 4.

On topic, good kill.

yeah to be truthful, i would have gotten them on all four. woulda been like a suv. but being a supra owner, i was a little short on money. lol so i could only afford the pair. but down here in southern colorado, we hardly ever get that bad of snow. like we get alot, but then the next day it gets to be like 45 degrees and the snow goes a away. colorado weather can be great, but be sucky at the same time.

^ He's exactly right...... We will get snow, and then the next 2-3 days it will be 40-60 degrees, then it all melts, and then the next week it does exactly the same thing. I hate how inconsistent the weather is here, lol. Oh well.

Thing is, you can put in a turbo engine from the z31 300zx in there. Would make it fast, but those VG30ET engines are pretty frail. My scummy ex-roommate's VG30ET, was very prone to detonation and broken ring lands. He went through 4 VG30ET engines. The first one we raced, he popped a ring. He swapped for a new engine, raced again and detonation took a chunk out of his piston 1. 3rd engine, we raced and it broke a ring land which sounded like rod knock. 4th engine threw another ringland.

And this entire time I am still racing and beating him with my good old 7MGTE. 7M-Power!

Never had much experience with the VG30DE or the DET, but my mom has a 1990 Pathfinder with the VG30E, and it absolutely will not die, lol. Its the 160 hp version of the motor, and as of today has 261,000 miles on it.
