Er, i am in the UK, fool :p

I just dont see the point of having a daily driver car - ie, a family 'sedan' with anything more than say a 4-cylinder, you're not taking it on the track, you're driving to work, the shops, kids to school etc...

Or do you like forking out money for fuel more often? :)

I like being ableto make my drive to the store or work more enjoyable by having that performance on tap.

buttery smoothness of power delivery and ride.

as far as home insulation goes, the "average" UK house doesn't have fiberglass insulation of any kind, whereas it's been standard issue in all american homes built since the 1970s (which is most of them). so overall, they use less energy insulating their houses, so can afford to use more driving nice cars.

Er - every house i've ever been in or lived in has had rockwool insulation in the loft, and plenty of them with double glazed windows. It's been standard here too, since 1965. And average house size is smaller than yours and not made of wood, so we're dont use or waste as much energy as you ;)

A 2.0litre Passat *is* a nice car....same goes for the Vauxhall Vectra, Ford Mondeo, Toyota Avensis etc...and they all come in diesel trim too :p

therein lies the rub. you guys have alot of great diesel cars, we get crap. my uncle managed to get a jetta wagon TDI, 34mpg i think and that thing rocks. then they discontinued it and there arnt a whole lot of other diesel cars here in the US.

and yeah, paying $30ish every time i fill up is just a small compramise to being able to leave most traffic in my rear view mirror. i need all that power for merging.

We just came out of the whole 80s thing. Cars are more powerful now then they have been in a very long time. that goes for every manufacturer.

bull... I don't believe it because 4wd cars will suffer too. And they are deemed for safty..

I think it's good eventhough I'll miss the cars they will have to come up with NEW CREATIVE ways to make me buy a sports car because as long as people have money other's are trying to figure out how to get it form them.
