supra my fellow supra brothers,

i know the already the stock head gasket / head bolts aren't good for much power, but i was wondering if it was safe to run 8-9 psi if the head bolts were torque to 68lbs

Block has 227,000 and runs strong! the headgasket has been done bout 48,000 miles ago

so far i only have a intake, downpipe, 3inch muffer " not even a real 3 inch cat back "
hks intercooler and, bosch bov.

i dont have much money for a full rebuild/ metalgasket arp head stud, so for now i was wondering if 8-9 going to affect the relialibty. " meaning i dont want the headgasket to blow "

thanks for your time and help guys

I can name a quite a few members here with boost just under fuel cut, ~11.5ish psi, on a stock HG. Torque the head down (forgot spec) and maintain coolant and you should be good.

I If its "running strong after 227,000 miles" I would just leave it alone. But i'm pretty sure over torquing the stock head bolts isn't a good idea. So to answer your question, I would just leave it were it is till you plan on installing things to support the extra power (metal HG, ARP hardware, etc.)

The sequence is so you dont warp the head. leave it. Turn the boost to right below fc. If it blows machine head and throw another stocker torqued to 75.

hey thanks for the reply's much appreciated, and yes the head has been machined.
The only reason why it i said it was torque'd to 68 lbs is because when i asked my half brother " who fix'd the bhg " said he didnt trust the spec and torque it extra 10 lbs. he did know about supraforums/supramania at the time and only been in america for 7 years atm. been 6 years since the repair.

i know its not 72-75 which is much preferred but atleast its not 58 LOL

p.s. is the stock boost gauge known to be inaccurate? because i added a intake, downpipe intercooler, 3 muffler " not even a real 3 in catback "

and the stock boost gauge still reads the same after thos mods

Not very accurate, But your limiting factors would be Stock elbow or any elbow and no 3in exhaust. Get a full dp from driftmotion and 3in piping and you would prolly see some boost gains.

I'm currently running 8-9 PSI on mine right now, stock gasket retorqued to 75lbs, haven't had any problems with it at all in almost a year. And yeah that stock boost gauge is garbage. Just get a real gauge and steal the vacuum source from that one
