The valves are a bit noisy on the 7M, but not excessively so. If you got 500 miles or so on the engine, I would check valve lash and timing belt tension as part of a normal maintenance.

A head bolt re-torque is also in order...especially if a stock type composite HG was used with stock head bots securing it. Torque for the stock head bolts in the TSRM is too low...they need to be in the 70-75 ft/lb range.

they sound like there ticking. its just been driven 30 miles sence rebuild. project car. so i should probaly just pull off the head and see huh? could it be a lack of oil.on the gauge it stays where it should be.

Just pull your cam covers, get your self some feeler gauges and check them.
Intake side should be .006-.010" &
Exhause side should be .008-.012" Cold.

what would be ur guess. its sticky on intake side on the front side of the motor only. dry and clean on rear. the oil hose that goes to the valve cover was also replaced

Intake side, well it can be either cam cover gaskets, oil pan gasket or worse head gasket leaking. There isn't to many places oil can come from on the intake side of the engine. Clean it up the best you can, put some die in your oil, drive around a few miles, then take your black light and see where it is coming from ;)

It's "dye" ;)

He's referring to UV dye you can get at the parts store specifically for oil. You will need a black light or UV flashlight to see the leak.

cool just checking. im not mecanicly inclined and got a huge project in front of me. also the oil vent hose that goes from the block to valve cover is not the oem molded hose. its a heater hose with a big kink in it. would this be ok to use for a while or will it rob oil from the engine.the hose comes off block and is wedged through the altnator's mount.

It shouldnt be pinched that much and im pretty sure you should get the proper hose for it. I dont know which kind but im sure its not supposed to be a heater hose.

Get a better one on there. I believe that if its pinched enough you'll have oil leaks springing out of a lot of places sooner or later.

Could be the main seal or the cam seals. When the HG was put on was there form in place gasket sealant used there the block meets the timing cover? It can also be leaking from there. Cam seals are easy to replace but if you removed the cam covers and there was NO OIL IN THERE you have a much larger problem then a little oil leak.
