I know that this has been covered before, but I have to ask. I have an 88 7mgte, The car won't rev very far. I am using the lexus AFM, among many other upgrades. I am getting a code 31 which is AFM problems. I just replaced it with a brand new one from schucks. It was like $200-$30O!!! The wiring that goes into the plug for the AFM oesn't look "top notch", but I have taken it apart and the wires are still connected. Could I have a bad reman. AFM? Is there anything else that can cause a code 31? I have ordered another lexus AFM with the wiring pigtail from ebay just so I can change it out and see. Any help is appreciated.

Built motor (oversized pistons), Aeromotive fpr, boss 61, cooleze intercooler pipes, greddy bov (recirc.), sparco intercooler, dual electronic fans, 3.5" turbo back exhaust, aem ebc, wideband, safc II, Stage 3 clutch, walbro fuel pump, lexus afm, short shift, sloted and drilled rotors, Koyo aluminum radiator, 550 injectors, probably more but this is all I can think of right now.

I tried the new lexus afm and wiring harness, no luck. Does anyone else know of anything else that can cause this? I have checked the afm wiring from the sensor to the cps, and everything looks good????

Does it stumble and buck when you get on it hard?

The Boss 61 might be too big for the Lex. But you would see a 34 also.

Ok, I have been running the turbo for a while and it just all of the sudden starting doing it. I was driving down the road the other day and blew and intercooler off while trying to tune at higher boost. I got it put back on, and it ran fine for a while, then got in the other day and had this problem. I don't know if it does it at higher boost, because I can't even get it to move in first. As soon as I touch the gas, it falls on it's face and tries to die until I let off the gas, then it starts to idle rough again. The lexus was new from schucks, the tps was just recently replaced. The fuel pressure seems to be normal at idle, but I gues I need to pay attention and see what it does when the throttle is pressed.

Check lower intercooler pipes again to make sure it not pop out also check all other intercooler pipes and clamps . My car used to do that when my lower intercooler pipe popped out and thanks to wide band told me that my car ran super rich! ( not sure how but my wide band said rich ! and i found lower intercooler pipe popped way out when i ran high boost ).

My wife's car is doing this exact same thing. I've checked the ic piping, but I'll go check them again.
