Im thinking of rebuilding the 7m since mines blew instead of swapping in a jz motor. This way i can have less downtime from my car. Swap in another 7m for now and get this block rebuild for insurance. Im looking at purchasing the bottom end kit from suprastore.com
Here is the link: http://www.suprastore.com/enblpa.html

What do you guys think? Is worth it for the money?

Thank You

its worth the money if you are going to be pushing at least 350+ or, if you want a huge piece of mind. just remember; when you have you crankshaft cut, make sure you get it micro polished and harded....you dont want those new clevites taking a shit....

i had my crank cut .10/.10 and everything is fine... if they were going to take a shit im sure it would have been last night when i was going WOT in 3rd down the road.... whats important is they pull the plugs and clean the crank super good.

and i looked at that kit too, and i found it wasnt that great of a deal...

also, my last supra, an 86.5 had its crank cut .25/.25 and that engine was strong and kickin for 20,000 miles... and then i sold it. haha

Eagle rods, CP pistons, clevite bearings....

as long as the kit is that, a kit (meaning the bearings are for the rods, piston rings etc all drop in on the kit itself), than that takes the work out of sourcing all that by yourself.

Price is reasonable since they did the work. Keep in mind (no one ever does!) that time is money. It might be cheaper for you to purchase through them than it is to,

research parts
place orders
receive everything
quadruple check all parts do infact work together.

Just keep that in mind ;)

You guys make it sound like matching bearings to a crank is rocket science, lol. Just how much matching time do you really think it took SS to put that kit together. Im betting it took about as much time as some shop boy going to the shelf and putting a few boxes in a bigger box.

If you are THAT worried about matching parts up have the machine shop, that you of course checked out and made sure ahead of time that they knew how to build a 7M, order bearings to match whatever they did to your crank. I mean its not like bearings are some super expensive item that you need to source a cheap supplier for.

As for the price and quality of the kit, its a bit expensive but the parts are good brands. I think you could do better ordering the same or better from one of the vendors that calls SM home.

again

time is money. What I get paid an hour. Yeah. I would go broke in a heart beat if I were to bill myself at that rate. I rather get paid for my time at work then do sourcing of parts. A bit of a premium but not that bad.

The bearings in this "kit" are not matched to anything. A crank is not included in this package. You would have to tell Suprastore what size bearings you needed. theis means your crank would already have been inspected by your machine shop to see what size the crank will be ground to. This package only includes cp pistons, eagle rods, and clevite bearings.
