Hey I Just purchused a 7mgte for my MK2 and I'm looking at where to start? I have about 3 grand to put into the engine right away. I've talked to several people about boring it out to 85mm so about 1.5 mm over. But I've also heard just putting money into fuel system and upgrade the turbo would be more effective. So im just looking for some input thanks

I come from a land down under
Punching the bores out that much isn't going to give a noticable increase in power but if anything goes wrong the block is junk.

Do a good solid basic build then do all of the usual power adding mods.

There is a HUGE amount of information here on building the 7M take some time to read it and you'll save some time effort and money.

How much power are you looking to make?????????????

The MKII is about 1000 pounds lighter than the MKIII that your motor was designed for. I have heard that a stock 7MGTE is very powerful in the MKII. If I were you, I'd consider going MAFT-Pro, Fuel upgrades, and maybe a 57 Trim Turbo. That should limit your traction considerably.

I don't mean to sound like an ass, but search around before posting a question like this. Read other people's builds. Searching and reading will get you a better understanding of what you're looking for.

First thing to do before upgrades is general maintenance. Make sure the gaskets are all good on it and all the parts function properly.

I Understand Moy, I was just told by my boss this is a good place to start my build. And I'm looking to get enough power to beat down some mustangs and at least keep up with a vette

Your boss was right!

Look up Darkspeed in the member list and see if he has a build thread. He has 2, and this car runs I believe in the low 11's.

Upgrades/downgrades to the Red car: 6M-GE swap, HKS short runner, HKS 40mm WG, 3.5" DP, 3" exhaust, HeebSpeed FFIM, NPR intercooler, 5.0 Ford TB, Mitsubishi Diamante coil pack and ignitor, Megasquirt EFI standalone, LC-1 WB, Denso 720cc injectors, walbro 255, spec stg3+ clutch, fidanza flywheel, detroit true-tra LSD, ST front springs, tokico hp front struts, Weld draglites
