a buddy of mine has a 1995 ford ranger xlt and i convinced him to drop a 7mgte into it. i just wanted to know what would be required for this swap other than the obvious motor, tranny, ecu.. and how much should he expect to pay.. i gave him an estimate of 1500

1500 not including the motor right? you are going to have some wiring fun!! not to mention, if you go with an r154, you will have to drop some cash on a driveshaft, probably bang out the tranny tunnel, completley custom motor mounts, exhaust, intercooler, maybe radiator, hope you don't like ac, power steering would be a pain....the list goes on. don't let me scare you, its just that its going to cost a little more than you quoted.

I hope you know how to fabricate like a motherf-----
1500 hundred will get you a jdm engine and transmission
but how are you gonna connect the tranny and rearend custom drive line or keep the ford tranny and make a custom bell housing
anyway you look at it your in way over your head
and you r lookin at way more than 1500 dollars i guess more in the 3000 price range

...er... I'd say on average THAT amount doesn't get many SUPRA 7M combinations running right!:3d_frown:

That would be the prudent thing to do...

...if you want him to remain your friend.;)

$1500 is reasonable... but the truck will fall apart once it runs.

honestly if you dont have the knowledge about doing such a custom swap, you may wanna leave it to a professional... not to mention that the 7m isnt very reliable unless its been taken care of properly. and most "jdm" engines are a crap engine half the time.
