That thing is nucking futs! I think I would tub my hatch so the slicks could be tucked. Its already all cut out and just has a layer of fiberglass from just behind the front seats to the rear bumper. So it would be pretty easy to do. The saddest part would be parting with the custom four link in it now. I don't know, I'm not drunk anymore, and it still seems like a cool idea:naughty:

seeing how it would be a toyota motor in a honda car, might as well use a chevy transmission and a ford rear end, lol. and the stock steering should be able to work, someone dropped a northstar V8 into a MK2 VW gti and used stock steering IIRC, along with a porsche 944 drivetrain into another MK2 GTI

No, steering rack and cross member are right in the way of the transmission, there would be know way around it. Well, maybe not around it (but maybe go over it) just thinking out loud. If I have the thing slammed down and tubbed, the driveline would have to run up inside the car anyways, so trans could be up higher. I would like to have the hood remain as close to stock height though...I don't know I'll have to do some thinking and measurments.
