So far i've read that the MSD's tend to crap up and i havent really seen anyone running this system on their 7MGTE so please advise pro's and con's of using this system. Thanks guys.

an alternative is to use 2JZ-GE VVTi coils, they're basically plug and play after you extend the harness..

here's a thread on it..

I'm running these and love it..!

really helps clean up the engine bay, too..

The MSD setup is very strenuous on the factory coils, they cant handle it, and they probably will fail soon after the install, if it will even start with the MSD. It does have the 2 step feature, that the HKS dosent have.

Does anyone know if the MSD will support the 2JZ coil upgrade. You would need two MSDs wouldnt you, or is the 2jz coil setup still waste spark?

even the low output version since they offer two theres a high output and a low output. Would the low output still be strenous on the stock coils if so would the HKS Twin Fire be a better option and what good two steps/rev limiters are there on the market? because i really like this feature.

You would have to use a DIS box to get a 2-step, without going standalone. I dont know of any recent use of the "Bee-R", but from what i have seen no one has used it on a 7M.

I suppose the low output would be easier on the coils, is that the one with the dip switches instead of the rotary dials?

No it has the rotary dials, but really do you think i should install this cause i definitely dont want to blow my coils or should i just go with the HKS Twin Power Ignition System and call it a day? So thers really no 2 Steps i can use without going stand alone?

I come from a land down under
Ran a pair of Dis4's a few years back, quality control at MSD is somewhat lacking one failed in weeks, I was using their CDI 480v coils so running it in bypass didn't "work" and had to limp home on 3 cylinders.

For what reason?

My Brother and a friend have been running MSD DIS-4 with no ill effects on the stock coils

I will agree with Ian the quality control on the MSD is not that great

The HKS Twin power is much easier to install, and it seems no one is really certain how it works, but my old one did cure a misfire on a Nissan RB
