hey guys i have a blown head gasket (89 7mgte) due to a warped alumminum head (was overheated before) anyway a buddy of mine have a head from and 87 7mgte that has very little wear in the cam seats(mine has a lot) and was not overheated, im thinking if the head fits i would buy his get it checked and probably shaved and slap it on. Would this type of swap work? are the heads the same or no? Thanks -max

The head should fit fine. You should hardness test it before you spend any money on it. Check for warping as well. If you are going to "shave" it, I'd measure the head and block decks to ensure proper hg thickness. You might want to look into a driftmotion manifold stud kit. gl.

what he said

a 7m head is a 7m head. There is a local shop that does rebuilt heads for less the $500, if yours is trashed, kepp this in mind, (JIS motors)

the heads themselves are the same. the only difference is the intake cam. same lower intake runners and exhaust stud locations
