7MGTE EGR Valve Removal

Hey Guys
I would like to remove EGR valve from my engine. From what I know this is vacuum controlled system not hooked up to engine computer diagnostics.
So if I remove those vacuum lines and put a cap on EGR plug coming out of intake manifold will that be it or It will screw up something else. Any suggestions ?
Please help any input will be appreciated.

i got rid of my egr stuff a couple years ago. charcoal can as well. car still runs great. my .02

So long as your car isn't a California model you can remove the EGR with no engine codes. California models have an EGR exhaust gas temperature probe that the ECU checks. A rheostat (or resistor) in it's place can make the engine code go away and with no problems to the engine. I forget the exact value, 10k comes to mind but I'm not 100% on that.

removing the EGR will likely cause your EGT's to rise. Most of the guys on this forum that I respect say there really is no good reason to remove it. About the only reason I can think of to remove it entirely from the system is if its not functioning correctly and you cant afford to fix it.

Please support this. I removed my EGR cooler and the EGR. Not saying it was the right or wrong thing to do. I just want to know how it raises EGT's and by how much.

Cant tell ya off the top of my head how much. But cooler exhaust temps is a good thing. Im sure the search button right up there in the header will yield some results.

Thanks, I have read once and will read again to better understand. However, it seems that part of the issue may be tuning. Removal of the EGR requires engine management adjustment for optimal performance and safeguard.

i guess it wouldnt hurt to clean it and slap it on back thanks guys
i'll do a chek if the temp drops with the egr when im done with my build

you may not notice the water temp change, I was refering to exhaust gas temps. that doesnt necessarily correlate to higher water temps. Just do some research. The EGR was put there for a reason.

this is the reason i am removing mine. it broke, and i do not simply want to deal with it no more.

The 87's and 88 did not have the sensor. I replaced my egr with one of a 91 , i just cut the sensor.

mine 88 does but i dont know what year is the engine because i swapped out the engines 3 years ago, and mine does have an egr

All models sold in US had EGR. The 89+ California models had a sensor that would trip the check engine light if EGR was removed.
