ok i know you guys have probably covered this at least one time in this forum but i don't know how to find it or atleast cant but any ways... i get my motor back tomorrow and yes they used a torque plate and cleaned out the crank etc... but my question is how much boost can i run on a rebuilt stock motor???? my mechanic built a black supra for guy thing was running 1400 hp on 32 psi coming out of the turbo. he told me nothing over 20psi for a stock anything but then i really don't know please let me know what you think and what you would do thanks. and what is the stock psi??

stock boost is around 6-7psi. stock ct26 usually maxes out around 15psi, it just becomes inefficient. but then you have to worry about fuel cut. fuel cut happens at a different point for everyone but its definitely before you reach 15psi. the search button is at the top of the page for future reference. search for how to get around fuel cut, there's tons of threads on that.

You say the motor was just rebuilt, but was it rebuilt with a stock head gasket and stock bolts? or did you have them put a metal head gasket on it with ARP hardware? This will make a big difference when trying to reach higher power goals. Like others have said, the stock turbo will be useless after about 15-16psi, it just blows hot air, so you'll actualy lose power. But to answer your question of how much boost you can run on a stock rebuilt motor, its all about the TUNE. If its untuned you might blow your motor up at 10psi, on the other hand if its properly tuned you'll be able to run more boost safely, and the motor will last much longer. Agian stock head gasket vs. metal makes a huge difference when talking about the 7mgte ;)
