I have a 7mgte that doesn't run.
I am planing to do a swap.
I want to swap the turbo set up + cam shafts to a 7m-ge to convert it.

So my question is, what mods do i have to do to make the motor run good? do i have to lower the compression?

you need all your electronics and eng harness.
its not to hard of a job but...you'll need some more parts there a good sticky here.
it'll run better with higher compression;) but who knows how long, i've got the same setup but stock na cams..gonna change them to gte cams in febuary.

Its a fairly "straight forward" swap. Oil feed and return lines for the turbo can be a bit of a hassle. I recently had a NA-T setup in my 87 supra.

Had a great running, GREAT compression 130,000 mile motor. (All done with the help HEAVILY of Shaeff) We changed the head gasket and head studs. After swapping everything, and got her running great, it was a BLAST to drive. Super fast on the stock CT at 12 pounds and supporting mods. I then put a brand new 57 trim on the car and ran it for a while at 10 ish pounds.

Super fast, and was actually very reliable untill i blew all 6 piston rings and fried my clutch....

Much prefer to have GTE. My GE's made more power at mid range RPM, but it seemed to make my car starve in the upper RPMS.

GTE's are the way to go, for sure

ok so all i have to worry about is the oil feed and return lines correct?

No. Theres plenty to worry about, but oil/feed lines are on the top of my list. I ran a T off the oil pressure sending unit for the feed, and welded a bung into the oil pan for the return.

yah i would recomend a soft line kit from rabidchimp..makes it nice and easy. i would also recomend the turbo valve covers, for the coil packs but mainly so the throttle linkage works out...trust me;)
